    Kicker 8" Speaker 41KM84LCW

Does anyone have any experience with this speaker? Im wondering how they compare to the JL 8" Speaker they are putting in the Malibu boats. Still trying to decide what to go with to replace my 6 inboat speakers. I don't mind having to fabricate anything.

Just to make sure you are looking to compare to the correct speaker. Ive not seen Malibu using JL, but have seem that the Wet Sounds XS-808 is coming in the new M235. Nautique is no using JL, but I dont know if the 8.8 is used as an in-boat. Both Nauty and MC offer the JL 880 on the tower. Supra is also using JL, but again, dont recall the 8.8 as an in-boats option.

The JL 8.8 physically a huge in-boat speaker, even larger than the wet sounds 808. The Kicker KM8 has a little smaller OD and not nearly as deep. The KM8 is actually a little larger than the jl 7.7. So take the physical dimensions into account with all these in-boats, as part of your decision.

Sound quality wise, I was not as impressed with the JL 8.8 as I had hoped I would be. It was ok. It was what I expected from a larger 8+ speaker, but it less than what I expected from a company like JL. Between the JL and Wet Sounds 808, I prefer the 808. Better mid-bass with a smoother transition.

Ive been extremely pleased with the performance of the Kicker KM8. Excellent mid-bass with plenty of highs, but not overly aggressive.
