Alpha z tower light illegal when Bimini is up at night

Just and FYI I was pulled over last night by the mo state water troopers on Loto for my tower light not being visible for 360deg. He was nice about it and seems like they have hit several Tige boats for it recently my dealer told me. I had the Bimini and a couple surf boards in pockets and it "blocked" it he said. This was a little before sunset also.

He also stated my blue underwater and led speaker rings were illegal while in motion which I knew and had turned speaker lights off when I saw him coming towards me. Again he was decent about it but perhaps Tige can look into another tower light bimini setup to prevent future boat issues with water police. It's to much of a pita to pull Bimini down and put back up daily imo.

Did you have the light/tow hook rotated so the light was above the Bimini?

Was it the boards or from what direction could it not be seen?

So the blue underwaters ARE illegal on Missouri lakes when underway? I've heard it all ways. Some say they aren't, some say they are, and some say as long as they aren't flashing to mimick water patrol they are fine.. I'm real close to adding underwater lights and have been trying to decide between green or blue... Guess now I know which route to go since we boat on Table Rock.

You can buy a longer light from overtons with a 12" long pole so it sticks higher above the Bimini

In reality, its not so much what is illegal, but what does not meet the navigational light regs. If you read through the regs, they dont list what you cant display, they list what you are suppose to display.

Light was rotated up top. We removed boards and he still said he couldn't see them and wouldn't allow us to be on water. We were 100 yards from condo so he let us go.

Yes he stated blue was illegal. I didn't ask about other colors as I didn't want to aggravate him!

What was the alternative, even if you were a mile away? Anchor and sleep on the boat until daylight?

While thats a good thought, and they are fairly cheap, I don't know how your'd attach it. Most of them are suction cup and the bimini only has a small cutout for the light.

I wondered if the light was truly visible 360 degrees last time I was cruising in the evening, but the bimini is such a pita to take down, I just ran with it. I guess I gotta be more careful now!
