Has anyone had problems with their boat idling after installing a Fresh air exhaust? I installed a FAE system on my 2001 2100V Limited late last summer. My boat is now notably quieter and I don't smell exhaust while surfing, but it doesn't idle well at all. I've been routinely having to disengage the transmission and increase RPMs to get my boat to start. Even after it's fully warmed up, it idles very low and often dies, causing me to repeat the increased rpm process. Once underway, I don't notice any issues with engine performance. Maybe it's coincidental, but I'm wondering if this problem is related to the exhaust (back pressure issue, etc). I'm not exactly a mechanical wizard, so I'm wondering if anyone with a greater knowledge of engines and exhaust systems may be able to shed some light on the subject? Any thoughts you may have would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like the IAC and throttle body need to be cleaned and maybe reset the minimum idle speed.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

With IAC closed, the engine should have a minimum idle speed as in just barely idling. Use the throttle stop screw to bring into spec. Closing the IAC will require an IAC driver or the ECM interface.
Just note though, is is not how you adjust the idle speed, that is controlled by the ECM using the IAC. This just sets the lowest idle speed the engine should reach when the IAC is fully closed.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

But before you do any of that, you should remove the FAE and see how it runs. Then you'll know if it is the problem or not. I've played with a few engines in my day, and have never had to make an adjustment to the throttle stop. And like Dom said, I'd be worried about making any adjustment as it could open a can of worms.
