    Anchor Line Lengths

I boat in several different lakes with several different depths. One party cove is literally 6ft while another can be 80+. I've been using a 1/2" 200' line. The line goes from the bow hook around the starboard side and into the compartment in the bow. The extra line is sitting in a bucket in the compartment. While this isn't exactly bothering me, it got me thinking about having a few different length of line on hand. That way I have the ability to tie a buoy on and go surf without pulling the anchor up. So you guys that boat in different depths, how do you tackle this problem? What do you do with the extra line if your tying a buoy off? Have you ever heard of anyone stealing your anchor while your gone?

It may happen that someone would steal it. I have seen it happen. Depends one your lake and the type boaters and people out there. We just drop our anchor in what ever depth we are at. Set it and the tie the line to one of the grab rails in the front and leave the rest coiled up. This is one anchor on board and less to fool around with. It is easy to pull up and prevents it from disappearing.
