2014 Tige Z1. Deal or no deal?

    http://www.onlyinboards.com/2014-Tig...see-51718.aspx

I could really use some help here. First time potential boat owner. This boat fell within my budget and I absolutely love it. I have negotiated the price down to $64k with the dealer and it is currently under deposit pending financing.

    1) Am I getting a good deal on this boat assuming there are no underlying mechanical issues? I have a huge fear of getting screwed and with that amount of money I want to be sure I'm getting a quality boat I won't have buyers remorse over. Most 2014 Tige Z1's I have seen are averaging around 69k. Thoughts?

    2) what are your thoughts in general on this boat? Personal experiences? Etc...

    3)Tips, advice?

    4) would be used for use in this order
    -surf
    -wakeboard
    -party cove/beach hangout
    -ski/tube/etc...

Check out the above thread. This may not be the same boat..... however, if it is I thought you should know about it. If I was in your shoes I would want the answers to how it was resolved or what the truth about it was.

Tige's are wonderful boats and all of us on the forum love our boats..... had to share this though.

Spend the money to get a 3rd party to look over the boat, especially the engine. I got screwed on a used boat.

      Good looking boat!

I have a 14 Z1 and we love it. It's about 80% surf for us. That boat I saw from that link does not have AVX like they are advertising. It has the VX like mine. It also looks like it has the Gen 1 brackets but I can't tell for sure. Z1's are dam good boats, take it for a spin and have someone check it out for you if you are uncomfortable. Good Luck!

This boat is way too similar looking to the one is this thread http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/show...y-with-my-Boat
The registration numbers even look the same, the guy who possibly had this boat traded it in at a Malibu dealer around that area, so they probably want it gone.

Even if they say it's fixed, don't bother taking the risk.

Wow. Very similar. I sent Gibbs a message. Hopefully I will hear back from him soon. I joined this forum not thinking much. Glad I did. May have just saved my ***.

Hypothetically though. If this isn't the same boat and nothing is wrong with it. Is 64k a good deal?

I would be shocked if that is not Gibbs old boat from the thread. The odds of someone putting together that same color scheme, including the lime green VX and platform....and being from TN....seems slim to me. The only way of that happening in my eyes would be for the dealer to order in several of the same boat.

Best of luck to you. It is a really nice looking boat. We had a '13 Z1 with the VX and it put out a real nice surf wave. '14 was somewhat an odd year for Tige and a few other mfgs as it was the 1 year that they ran Indmar. Truth be told, I feel bad for the dealers with there being different parts to stock for one model year.

Best of luck and keep everyone posted. Too many posts go on without being followed up on.

I'm almost positive it is the same boat. Dealer told me the guy traded it in for an axis. How serious were the issues Gibbs was having with it?

Get the boats vin#. Then contact Tige and ask what warranty work has been done to it.

Any issue can be resolved if it was handled properly and the manufacturers were willing to cover the issue properly. I would do as kodiak suggests and see if you can get the service/warranty records. In addition, if you bring up the issues now that you know about it, maybe you can get the dealer to throw in one of the "fantastic" extended warranties they offer. This would at least cover potential issues, but like Gibbs, warranty doesn't keep you on the water.

jzig211 - I agree with the previous recommendations. As far as pricing, and provided you find out all the work needed on it is complete, I think you are in the right price range. I might even recommend driving the price a little lower with these findings. We bought our 2014 new for close to your average price listed above. We are VERY happy with it so far. The only downside we have experienced has been documented a little bit in this forum... the boat is a little weight sensitive from side to side and "tippy", as some have put it, at higher speeds. We have just learned how to adjust our passengers to make it work. Please keep us updated, as many of us have followed the threads on this particular boat.

I took your advice and used the boat and engines serial # to check to see what had been done on this boat.

I first called Tigé. The only notes they had on the boat was that a new prop shaft was ordered on 9/21/2015.

I then contacted Indmar to check on the transmission. They told me that the transmission appeared to have been replaced in October 2015 and has a warranty on the new transmission through April 2017. I'm curious if the dealer in which the boat was traded to replaced it or Gibbs.

Yalls thoughts???? Enlighten of this information would the boat still be worth pursuing. I'm in a pickle because I fell in love with the boat, but trying to not let my heart out weigh my brain.

The transmission was replaced on that boat.... according to Gibbs in the thread (sound like it was done by the Tige dealer). Gibbs got the boat back and still had problems. He said he brought it back in and the dealer (again sounds like Tige dealer) told him something about the motor and or motor mounts not being aligned correctly from the factory. Gibbs said the dealer told him is was fixed and when he got it back on the water apparently it wasn't. (according to him)

The previous thread ended with Gibbs saying he had traded it for a T23........ it's unknown what the dealer your dealing with knows about or fixed.....

If your going to go forward with the deal I would water test it like you stole it. Load it up with ballast, throttle at different rpms.... etc.

The boat was listed for sale by current dealer on 8/27/2015 and Indmar is saying transmission was replaced October 2015. That's why I was curious.
