    Electrical issue

Not great with electrical so any help would be much appreciated. While getting the boat ready for its first trip of 2016 today, noticed that when I hit the dock lights switch the red/green lights in front don't come on anymore. Also when I press the nav/anchor switch forward the courtesy lights and front red/green lights come on. But when I push the same switch down only the 360 tower light turns on and nothing else. Sorry for the probably confusing description, but can't seem to get the nav and anchor lights to go on both at the same time. Also the battery was dead this week (maybe a short or just had no charge?). I was messing with the accessory switch this off season, not sure if by effecting that one messed with the others? Again not great with electrical so any help is greatly appreciated!

First off, your nav lights shouldn't come on with your dock light switch so there's no problem there..

Nav/Anc forward should light up your red/green nav and your 360 anchor light up top. Nav/Anc down should light up only your 360 anchor light. Reason being you only need white light when sitting stationary at night.

So... Dock light switch - no problem that I see...
Nav/Anc switch down - no problem there...
Nav/Anc forward - looks like your red/green nav work as they should and I bet when you were messing around in there you mixed up your anchor light and courtesy light wires. Trace them and see if this is the case.

Anchor light B+ might be gray. Courtesy light B+ might be blue/wht

Hey thanks for the help! I tried looking into it more this morning but was unsuccessful. I've been focusing on the dock lights switch but I guess that didn't do anything before? Marina said they think it's the ground wire, does that make sense? Is it possible I caused a short under the dash, both batteries were dead this week, the engine starting battery is brand new yet was at 11 volts and switch was off? Is it all just bad luck or could this be connected?

Lets back up and talk about what was actually done with the switches prior to experiencing an issue. Did some wires get pulled or knocked off the back of one or more switches? Did you pull a couple of switches, specifically the NAV and/or courtesy. Was any other wiring connections added?

Docking likes are white headlight like lights that were an option, Even when not ordered, the helm was wired for them, so the switch was there and active, just no lights on the other end. No connection to the NAV lights or anchor lights.

I dont think its a ground issue. They would both ground back at the main helm ground BUS, along with just about everything else under the helm.

A short would pop a fuse or trip a breaker. Those would be inline on the B+ side of the circuit, so they wouldnt work if that was the case.

The original owner of the boat had a bag on the surf side plumbed in and used the accessory switch to control it. I cut in 3 new switch below the speedset for ballast (right, left, front, to be installed when the funds are available) I pulled the wires from the accessory switch to the new ballast switch to realise not all of them were needed (specifically a blue wire that is tied to the courtesy light) I ran new positive and neutral wires directly from the battery to the ballast switch. I didn't touch the nav or courtesy switches directly but as I mentioned it looks like some of the wires from the ACC switch also tied to the courtesy light switch.

              Thanks again for helping!

I believe that blue is daisy chained across every switch and is ground.. I would probly start by hooking everything back up the way it was when you started and making sure everything worked properly again... Then start working with Chpthril on the correct way to power up your new switches.. He's an expert in these areas
