    Don't Drive the RZ2

because if you do you might buy one.

I just got off the water doing a demo of the RZ2 and it is the boat I am going to buy. It handles great and the ride was very good over the rollers and chop. It is a very roomy boat and the bow area is great as well. The new speed set is awesome. You turn on the speed set, set the speed to what you want and then go. As you go it tells you if you need more throttle to reach the speed. No more looking for the light. Tap the speed set and it goes up .2 mph, hold it down it goes up 1 mph. Big improvement over the 06 version. The gages are very easy to read and give you more info then you know what to do with. On the main Display you get Voltage, Engine Temp, Depth, and Oil Pressure. On the side displays you get air temp, water temp, depth, oil press, engine temp, and volts. When you turn on the speed set the middle display has actual mph and your set speed.

The boat will be at the blue water reunion leaving today. It looks awesome with the Xplosion tower with the Monocoque (I think that is how you spell it) upright. Zany took a pic of it in the gallery. The only draw back is the bimini. It is a 10' (which is what I want), but getting it up is a bit of a hassle (but easy enough to over look), but well worth it when it is up. Tige has hit a home run with this boat!

I'm afraid to drive it...that's why I didn't at the Austin Tige Reunion

The two boats they had there were sweet! Not sure what tower they had on them.

BTW, I got to check out a year-end-closeout boatshow in Austin this last weekend and they had the Supra 24 SSV Gravity Games edition. It came with the Roswell tower and I gotta tell ya, that tower was one of the best designs I've seen, combining form and function:

    - T-top style bimini w/ racks for surfboards or (ugh) tubes that just dropped down for easy loading and unloading
    - Very solid swivel board racks on either side
    - Completely collapsible (drops below the windshield)
    - Bimini snaps in at 4 locations so it takes seconds to set up

Another nifty feature was a bow walkway cushion that flipped up to extend the observer's seat (granted the Supra didn't really have a walkway) and a backward facing seat behind the driver (probably not enough room on a 22 footer for that).

But, I gotta stick with the Tige.

One question, coach, was it hard to read the digital display? Was glare an issue?

It was very easy to read the display. You can't see it very well if you are sitting in the observers seat. You need to be directly infront of the Display. I have polarized sunglasses so glare is a not an issue, and I didn't take them off when I was doing the demo (didn't think of it). Not once while I was driving it did I have problems seeing the displays clearly.

The one weird item is you can't see the front of the bow when you are driving. you see the cushion but I looks like that is where the boat ends. The bow rides very high up. I tried to bring water over the front and everything in the boat stayed dry.

That bimini is the shiznit ain't it. I would REALY like to see Tige play follow the leader on that one. Best bimini I have ever seen. It was, by far and away, my favorite part of this years boat show.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

I'm partial to T-Top style biminies...storage isn't an issue for me as long as I can disconnect it from the tower. They give you so much more shade and head room.

            Coach,
I have the 10' bimini with the explosion tower and it's not as bad as you would think. You can easily put it up with two people and with the right technique you can do it by yourself.

I am sure with quick mounts instead of the screws and finding a way to secure the bimini up high on the tower it would make it much easier. From June to Aug I put my bimini up before I launch the boat and take it down just before I leave to store the boat.

                  Coach,
Any reason why the enigne temp, depth, voltage, and oil pressure are displayed twice (main and side display)?

you can change the display to show different options by using the speed set control.

Not sure. I will ask when I talk with the guys on Tuesday. I wish they had a fuel percentage display or GPH display so you can see what type of fuel consumption you are using. The only reason I think you see it displayed twice is when you switch over to the Speed Set the main screen has Actual Speed and Set Speed being displayed. Maybe they will make some tweeks before final production begins.

I don't think so. Once again I will have to ask on Tuesday when I see the guys again. I asked if they display could be changed and he didn't think so. One thing we are seeing with this boat is that it is so new the dealers still don't know all of the little neuances yet. I think they are going back labor day to the factory for a dealers meeting and are presenting some thinks they would like to see or not see on the boat. I will know more next week when the guys get back from the Blue Water reunion.

Wait a minute...are you suggesting a fuel flow meter? What a concept! Brilliant!

Seriously, Tige, when will this be an option or standard on your boats?

Just think, we won't be able to rag on our fuel guages any longer.

BTW, you should not interpret your poll results as indication that nobody wants them. I think if you gave them a choice, they would pick more reliable fuel readings every time!

i drove the RZ2 all week during the photoshoot... you can change the middle display by using the speedset controller.

Were you on the Parker Strip Monday and or Tuesday?

I had the yellow 24ve at Emarled Cove.

Love Parker for the Seadoo scares me on the boat.
