I just rebuilt the 71c in my 99 21i. Filled it according to factory manual instructions. I went out for a water test yesterday and the boat ran like a champ, rolling starts, dead stop to on the gas, cruising no slipping, no noises. After about 10mins I started smelling transmission fluid and there was a good amount in the hull. I'd say there was at least 3/4 of a quart. It was leaking enough that the trans started slipping. However I couldn't find the leak. I checked the cooler first as I've been seeing they're prone to cracks. That was totally dry. I found some seepage out of what looks like an "inspection cover" on the top of the trans. and maybe some alone the bottom between the trans and the housing(I couldn't tell if it was leaking or that's just where it was running to). No leaks on the hoses or at their fitting. Nothing from the output shaft. This is making me thing something related to the input.
Ilet it sit overnight to see if there would be drips this morning and the hull was totally dry and clean. So to me that shows it's only leaking when the trans has pressure.
Any ideas?
This was in the hhull after about 10mins. There was a little water in the hull so this is what ran to the stern. There was the majority of it under the oil pan of the motor

There was some slow seepage from this cover. It's on the bell housing on the top of the starboard side

The cover removed
