    Z3 Taps3 settings

    Hey guys,

I'm going to go pick up my new Z3 this week. What are the settings for wake surfing that you have been running?
    Thanks for your help!IMG_5998.jpgIMG_5942.jpg

Nice looking ride. Maybe you should name it "Prince" in honor of the man himself.

Check out this Facebook post, it lays it out.

Tony Fussell from Tige says to set center Taps at 4 and Taps 3 at 4 for a starting point at 10.8. Get to speed and make changes in taps 3 plate as needed on each side. 35% ballast full in front, 100% in back.

A Denver owner who has surf XL and a 1615 prop on Z1 has their boat dialed in with Taps center plate at 4, Taps 3 at 9 on surf left and 11 on surf right, running at 10.8. I believe surf XL full here.

            Z3 Taps3 settings

This is the settings our dealer recommended as a starting point for our z1.
Makes a decent wake but I think we can get it bigger

Set taps at 4, taps 3 at 4, 100% ballast in rear and 35-40% in the front.

Question for the TAPS 3 owners:

hypothetically, say I were to get my hands on TAPS 3 system and only wanted to use it for temporarily for transitions. Is is possible to stow the TAPS 3 in a up position that would allow me list the boat as I do know and not affect the wave that I am already able to produce?

Simply put are any of you surfing without the assistance of TAPS 3? What have your results been?

Ive had both an AVX boat and now the taps 3.

When I want an old school avx style wave with taps 3 I just list it 4.5 degrees. The wave is damn near identical to the wave I was producing on my 15 with AVX. So to answer your question yes, although you dont need to stow anything, the system still functions great with list IMO. The length is good and the wave steep with I push it over a bit especially with two lead sacs up against the back wall on each side. Level the boat out and the wave is more mellow up front. Pretty simple process.

The only benefit I see with my 15 that my 16 cant handle as well is those times I am in water less then 10 feet... The 15 just cranked and it didnt matter. My 16 is still excellent and to me the versatility outweighs that but man, I could put that thing in a lake of 6-9 feet dial it in and freak people out....... as long as the depth was consistent. The 16 although great does not quite shine the same in that regard.

                  just my .02

Thanks "elevatedconcept" I'll have to compare the waves from listed to full on both sides with Taps3. What are you running for settings when using Taps3?

Thanks EC, if the option to have Taps 3 installed on my boat does become available I want to make sure that I don't loose the killer wave I already have but with switching sides being all the craze right now and surely the possible future of the sport I am keeping my options open. Thanks again for the info.

Yeah, to be honest when I bought my 16, I couldnt have cared less about the side to side. Again, my order was originally placed with the AVX system, it was only after many conversations with the guys in texas and a few long rides in demo boats that my opinion was swayed. The problem was up to a month ago most of the people in the know dont really know how the taps 3 is on the Z3, just not enough time behind it yet.

2 lead sacs, a little list if I want a big tall front section and even if I dont. The wave is legit, its a surf system but with the hull design its not your typical system, it all works in harmony and the ability to go quick switch is a bonus. At the end of the day for me it was always... "If the wave is comparable and I mean close then its tap3 simply because of the ease, and the resale.....

What I didnt know is that I could get it damn near identical. Im to the moon thrilled so far. I am going to a shallow water lake next month and I will imagine that my excitement will fade a little when the boat does not produce like my 15. But im expecting it so........
