    Removing rear quarter decal?

    Hey guys,

This is my first post here, yet my brother, GSchmidt, posts here all the time. We own a Switch V, and I was thinking the other day that it might have a better look without the rear quarter decal. It doesn't really go to well with the rest of the boat.

I was excited to do it, until my brother reminded me that there might be a sticker 'shadow' once we remove it. It is only an 04, do think we would have this problem? If so, how do we fix it?

Here is a quick photoshop pic of with/without the sticker... see what you think:

Found this over on wakeworld... sounds like he used some sort of oxidation remover to get the MC sticker outline off. Any reccomendations? Not a bad update for an older boat!

You should not have any problems on a two year old boat.

Honestly I don't think you'll have any issue with sticker outline, but if you did, I'd start by waxing the boat.

You might have to use a cutting/buffing wax on the whole boat to get it back to the color that is under the sticker.

Yeah.....you aren't in the same boat as me....pun intended.....

My boat is 9 years old, and I pulled the swooshy wave thing (the really old one that looked like water splash) b/c it was atrocious.....my gel looks new under there, but has some oxidation around it and the waterline. I will be buffing soon. I'm going to try that before I take it to get it sanded. BTW....don't be scared to buff.....gel coat is about 10-15 times as thick as auto paint.....so it is really hard to burn through.

I would almost leave the the rear "swoosh" and pull the Tige graphic off. That would look nice, real nice. Without the rear swoosh it looks unbalanced. everything is going on in the same spot on the boat. The tower, the wind sheild and the Tige are all aligned and it looks way too busy. The rear swoosh helps to balance it out. However I still feel it would look a lot better without the Tige logo.

I don't think you'll have much of an issue with the gel coat so long as you have taken care of it. If you do have some marks you should be able to buff them out fairly easily.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

word on that......if you remove that swoosh, you need to buy new graphics and move them twoard the back of the boat.

I recently changed the graphics on my 04 Switch V. I pulled my boat out of storage this spring and found that fuel had spilled out of the vent due to overfilling and heat expansion. The fuel ran down the rear side of the boat and destroyed the Switch V lettering and the rear graphic as well.

I removed all the original grahics on the boat. I wanted to keep the switch theme but always hated the large side graphic that came with the boat so I just used the rear graphic for the sides as well. I think it makes the boat look larger and cleaner. I found no fading of the gelcoat once I removed all the graphics. I'll try and upload some pics. Let me know what you think.

SwitchV: Wow, love the change and good looking boat! I really enjoy the 'simple is better' mentality when it comes to graphics. How did you get the new stickers? I am guessing the best would be just to ask a local dealer?

NICKYPOO & spharis: I think it would look kind of cool to just have the switch logo on the back and maybe the swoosh, but I have to have some sort of tige logo on the side of the boat. My brother, dad and I have always wanted one (we had an outboard and then an I/O w/ a tower before) and we are proud now to finally own one! So we have to keep a tige sticker of some sort to represent!

Maybe lose the front gray/silver spike on the Tige sticker?

That would make it look like the graphic was further back on the boat.

Or just go full custom, big pimpin style.

switch- That looks sweet dude. I dig it. That was a nice call. You're right, it does make it look bigger.

r.- I can appreciate your appreciation for a fine tow boat. I spent many years behind the family Sea Swirl. While it was a good boat, I had always longed to have a real tow boat. So when I finally bought my own it was like all my Christmas's came at once.

I got the stickers through the local Tige dealership. Looked up on the net for installation instructions and the wife and I put them on. Thanks for the compliments!

On the rear sides I used the 06 20V graphic since it is a 20V and happens to be the body style of the current 20V.
