    Plastidip or dupli-color custom wrap?

Has anyone ever sprayed these types of removable paints to their gelcoat?

I was thinking of changing the color of my tower and windshield frame with dupli-Color custom wrap but curious about gelcoat. Would like to change color of the gunwale and protect from people who ignore my no shoe rule.

I have looked on the Internet and found some done but the boats they did too were POS's.

I'm not really familiar with the dupli color system, but I've used the plastidip before on some automotive wheels.. It comes off so I would think you could tape off a section of your tower and your windshield frame and spray it. If you don't like it, lose it... I will say this about the gunwales, I just ordered a 40" x 62" sheet of the agenda sheet traction. I plan to cut strips of it and stick it to my gunwales the way manufacturers are using seadek on the newer boats.. Not so much because of your shoe problem, but my little ones love to stand on the sides and jump into the water.. Don't need one of them slipping and getting hurt..

Don't see why you couldn't use plastidip on those parts. Like anything it would just be a matter of how long it's going to last and look good still. I recently dipped my wheels on my truck and the mirror caps, grill, and fog light surrounds on my Flex. So far it's held up great. If you are doings areas like a windshield where you are going to have to tape the glass off I would make sure you run around once you are done painting and score all your edges so the paint doesn't peel when you go to remove the tape.

I am for sure doing that tower and Windshield frame in flat black. Then will get windows tinted sometime this summer. My boat colors are black red and silver / grey.

My idea for the gelcoat was actually more than the gunwale. I was thinking red from the top of rubrail to the seats. My thought is that it's ok and worst case scenario I have to wet sand to return to original color.

I have used Plastidip a lot in automotive applications. Just remember to put it on thick. Also, while it does peel off, using Goo Gone or a similar product will liquify it and make it just wipe off. Much easier than trying to peel every little piece off.

I plastidipped my whole M6. It's cool for darker colors but it doesn't always clean off very well for lighter colors. I did mine in white. I would recommend it for darker colors though.
