This little project turned out great, solved a pestering issue, was cheap and easy.
No matter what time of day the port and starboard helm storage lockers are dark and hard to find the little things. I purchased two 7"L LED rigid light strips for $4 (wish.com) and two magnetic switches for $8 (Amazon).
I wired the port side off of a 12v outlet and placed the LED strip in a location that gave the best light to the whole area. The starboard side I wired to some open spots on the power and ground strips. Here some pics and links.
I know it's not much but maybe someone will find it as beneficial as I did.
