Finally got our new boat out

Have a question when we got home i realized that both rear bags are not completely empty have maybe 10 to 20 lbs of water in them is this normal ?

I don't know about the R20, but sometimes the Z3 will still have a little left in the bags depending on the angle or attitude of the boat when emptying. I usually hit the "Empty all" button for a few moments on the run back in and then again when idling into the slip/up to the trailer. I usually squeeze a little more out of at least one of the bags that way.

yup...you can never really get all of it out. But if the boat ramp you have is fairly steep park it on the steepest part and hit empty all. That should get just about all of it out!

          Nice boat BTW!

Like the orange. Great looking boat.

Water looks cold. What was the temp?

                  Congrats. Great looking boat!

Yes, having that amount of water left in each rear ballast has been my experience. The front ballasts also retain some water. I'm not worried about the extra weight but I suck them dry out the drain lines with a Shop Vac for winterization.

I'm more concerned about water in the bilge (since it shouldn't be there) but I always remove the garbord drain plug as part of my trailering out routine.

I went crazy trying to figure out what was going on with this issue in my 15 RZ4. With the help of chpthril (Mike MLA), I installed some check valves in the rear vent lines. This lets the bags raisin in on themselves. While this helped a bit, it did not solve the problem. I'm not sure about the R20, but on the RZ4 the issue is because the drain port is off the bottom of the sac, rather than the lower edge of a side or back panel. This was also pointed out by Mike. The hose fitting lifts the sac up, creating a high spot, forcing water away from the drain port. Because of this, just getting the bow in the air on the way to the dock or sitting on an incline will not help get this last bit of water out. I've found the only way short of vacuuming the water out is to hold the sacs up while they drain. I originally brought this up to my dealer before I installed the check valves. They said they "shortened a long hose". But that did nothing. I sent them an email a few weeks ago before Mike suggested the fitting problem. I told them I was still having problems. I was told they were going to contact me soon about it. Haven't heard back. While I know this doesn't really sound like a big deal, I think this shouldn't be an issue on a $100k+ boat. From what little I know, it sounds like putting the fitting on the lower rear of the sac would fix the issue. Even better would be some quick disconnects on the sacs. This would allow them to be completely removed when you wanted. Allowing everything to dry properly.

TLDR: If your drain fitting is on the bottom of the sac, they will never completely drain without lifting the sac up.

All and all I'm just happy I finally know what the problem is. It was driving me freaking nuts.

I think if I understand what you are saying the drain fitting on your boat is an inch or two above the bottom of the sack, so it never quite empties that last little bit.

The drain hose SHOULD be on the bottom rear of the sack. If it is on the top of the sack, then I would be surprised if it drains at all.

If your drain hose is coming off of the top of the sack, then I consider that a problem. Aerator pumps like these have their advantages and disadvantages. One disadvantage is that they can never get every last drop out, and create a suction like an impeller style pump can do. 20 pounds of water in the sack is not a big deal compared to your 5,000 pound boat. Unless I were transporting it to another state where an inspection is going to happen, or winterizing, I would not worry.

Tige didn't put quick connects on the sack from the factory?
                              Be excellent to one another.
