    Phone mount? What? Where?

I still haven't installed a mount for my iPhone in my boat at the helm and was wondering where everyone else has put there's? In front of the steering wheel, off to the right side off the window? I've thought about mounting mine off the side window so it was located above/beside my wired remote which right in front of the arm rest and throttle. Which mount are you using?

dave check gps city ram mounts, they are the best mounts and you can configure them so many ways, the nice thing is if you get a mount and no longer need it for your phone or whatever you can use some of the parts to make a different mount. Just check them out, you'll see. Gps city is where I got my stuff from, great service and good price.

I recommend the RAM mount as well. I use one on my motorcycle and it works very well. Somthing like this should fit the bill!

I'll look at those to start for sure. Thanks. I like the mount above. I don't want something that I have to pop my phone out of its case to then mount so I like that. Thanks for the link Dukes. Already going through the site.

another vote for the ram mounts. Although I haven't used them on the boat yet. They are rock solid on my truck. I might wonder a bit about the suction mount in rough water.

I find my cellphone overheats in the summer so I'm trying to find a spot that keeps the phone in the shade, so i'm thinking a glass/window mount won't work. Has anyone else had the same issue and if so what has your solution been?

The ram mounts are quite sturdy. but not sure about the suction cup, we have a suction cup for the sirius radio in the boat and it always falls off, it's inside the glove box though.... Even in the truck speeding down logging roads it would fall off.

Ya, I'd be hesitant with a suction cup style one then. I don't want it falling off every time i'm in rougher water or coming back through my own wake on a turn. At the same time I don't really want to put in permanent holes to screw a mount down.

With my experience with the suction mount, I would say there's a 70% chance it would be fine. My concern would be it getting a good connection on my tinted windshield. Those with no tint might have better luck. I do know ram makes a clamp mount that might work.

i have the suction for my gopro, it has never let go yet. however I do run a tether too. but I would easily try to run it without if it had no chance of falling in the water.

holdmyphone.com.au has a full range of phone holders and mounts. Excellent quality. My iPhone doesn't like direct Summer sun tho...has overheated a couple times.

I use the ram mount and love it. It holds perfectly. Highly recommend to anyone. I just suction it to the side window and it works great.

If the suction base is a concern or just too big, you could do as I did. Same basic principle with the RAM arm, but I used a flat base and fixed it to the side windshield just above the armrest with 3m VHB tape. It is very solid and unobtrusive. To hold the phone, I adapted a simple quad lock mount to the other end of the RAM arm. Look them up, they work very well.
