    wake on 22i

What’s the secret to getting a respectable slalom wake on a 22i? I just bought a 2006, and the wake on this boat is huge! I ski at around 30 mph. I’ve set the trim to one, adjusted the passenger weight, but no luck.

Due to its overall weight, the 22i is tough to recreational ski. I have run it through the buoy course, but had to ski no less than 34 mph to get the wake where it was acceptable and the rope no longer than 15' off. We usually run the rope at 22' off when we free ski.

I rarely slalom behind it anymore but the wife can rip it up. She runs constantly at 34 mph and 22' off and does excellent. That is with 2 kids in the boat. Taps is always set at 1. If we have more people in the boat, she will go almost 35 mph to get the wake where she wants it.

Not much else you can do. Maybe more weight in the bow?

The secret? What doesn't kill you can only make you stronger. That's the secret. The reality is that a 22i is never going to outperform a Prostar or a Response through the coarse. It will however outperform them in every other aspect.

Well I guess I could at least try and help instead of just be smartass eh? I found running at least 34 mph helps a ton. That and playing with the taps between 1 and 3. I've found easing up on the dive plane helps free up the hull a bit and soften up the mountain of a wake. We have completely different hulls though and what works for me, may not work for you.

You can always strip it down and make it a floating gas tank.
