    Underwater Light Color Advice

One of the upgrades we plan this spring is the addition of a swim light.. I've only been on one other boat at night that had one and it was white. Don't think I want white. I read a post or an article somewhere that discussed which color light to get depending on water conditions/clarity, can't find it now. I know I'm off of the white and I don't know if I'd like the red, so I guess I'm down to green or blue. Anybody run either, or any of these colors? I'd like to know which colors show the best. We're on Table Rock Lake in Missouri. It's a rock bottom lake with semi clear(I think) water..

Unless the lake bottom is red clay like round here, all the colors will be very true. White is the brightest, fallowed by blue, green and then red. Most of my customers go with a color that matches the boat, some go with their favorite color and the rest go with blue or green because it looks the best in water.

Or, go RBG and choose your color...................Get the Wet Sounds 4 zone RGB controller an link them all and have them pulse along with the music

Wait a minute... I've got the wet sounds RGB controller for my in boat LEDs, is the 4 zone controller different? Shadow caster has the only color change light right? Not a multicolor RGB but 4 seperate lights in one housing, correct? This seems confusing.. I just want a wet sounds underwater light I can plug into my controller like the in boat lights

Wet Sounds and Shadow Caster went in together and designed a 4 zone music controller. Not only is 4 zones and a music controller, but its stout enough to drive underwater LEDs

No, shadow caster is not the only RGB underwater lights.

Check these lights out: http://www.boatpluglight.com made in Texas just like Tige. I'm very impressed with the lights I bought from them.

The pic is of two of their "typhoon" lights.

Did you have to drill new holes or did they mount to the existing drain plugs?

Just some thoughts on drain plugs lights based on the few ive had experience with.

if you trailer your boat and need to pull the plug on a regular basis, the harness will likely fail in a season or two from the twisting. BP's answer is to maybe install a dedicated garboard just for the light. Well, if om going to drill holes, why not just drill and install a true marine underwater light.

Being centered and behind a TAPS, wedge engine outdrive or similar, you will likely get some shadowing or possible interference as in the case of a wedge.

Some of their lights look to be plumbing fittings with a light puck epoxyed in. This epoxy will certainly yellow and cloud over time as well as likely harden and crack and then leak.

Some models, maybe all, require an external converter. This has to be located within 6ft of the light as well as its one more connection to make. I prefer a true 12 volt ready light.

I added one drain plug on the right hand side to mirror the existing plug.

I also added a drain to the bottom, center for draining while on the boat lift. I won't ever have to remove the plug lights. Which is good, I too would be concerned that the connections could get worn if removed and reinstalled often.

I figured if I drill a hole in my boat, it would at least be useful as a drain plug, in the event the lights quit working.

Been eyeing these for some time, I already have a Lifeform Led installed. Unfortunately I installed it prior to a FAE and the Duffy Flap, so my light is basically worthless now. And my drain plug is centered over my Tap plate.
My life's journey is not ending up looking pretty, its sliding in broadside, used up, worn out, screaming "What a Ride"

                          Hey Bryan,

We too are on Tablerock lake...we went with blue on our 2004 22v...Seablaze...two total lights, one on each side of the transom...love the blue color in early evening and at night.

Thanks Tim! Exactly what I was lookin for, real world experience on my exact waters.. I'm think we're leaning toward blue also.. The German brings up a good point though. We're gonna be adding FAE also so where is the best placement? I'm leaning towards one lifeform to start with. Maybe add another later if we end up using it a lot.. Guess that means I should pick one side or the other.. Is that gonna leave one side dark? Anybody running just one light? How's the spread?

I went with blue and mounted them on 90* brackets on the bottom side of my swim platform, about 8" from the trailing edge. I have the AVX and wanted to avoid shadowing. I'll post pic'so later when I get home.
