Thanks for all your work on this. Can't wait to get our panel fixed finally. In regards to the spacers do you have some general guidelines to follow on which panels needed spacers vs which didn't. Maybe it was based on the year of the original panel? Some pointers on that would be helpful too. Thanks again.

Update: As promised, the international orders (and the one domestic with the address they didn't like) went out this morning. Tracking numbers will be emailed later today!

You're welcome, and thanks to you and everyone else who posted kind comments above! Sorry for not separately acknowledging everyone, it's been a very busy 36 hours getting these panels built, tested, and shipped. I really appreciate your support!

I'm excited to hear how everyone's boat performs with working panels!

We'll cover that in the video, but: There's no hard and fast rule. Basically what we learned while researching this project is there is a large amount of variation between bezels, elastomers, etc. The spacing varies from the back of the elastomer to the tops of the snapdomes. The effect is that sometimes the elastomer "holds down" one or more snapdomes... you can push the button once, but the elastomer won't release the snapdome when you remove your finger. Or, pressing one snapdome holds down others. They should all operate independently.

The solution is to increase the distance between the elastomer and the snapdomes, so that when you remove your finger there is enough distance that the relaxed elastomer and the snapdome to always let the snapdome de-actuate. From our experience, we believe most installs won't need any spacers at all. But a few might need one, and we've seen at least one that required two for reliable operation. So we ship two with every unit.

Here's how we determine the proper number of spacers: Install the new panel in the bezel and tighten the four screws (snug, but don't crush them). Confirm that the center snapdome noticeably clicks AND releases when you push and release it. (You can both hear and feel it, thanks to the improved snapdomes we specified.) For the side "buttons", there are three snapdomes... first confirm that each one can be actuated and released alone. Then hold down one at a time and make certain the other two still separately actuate and release (i.e. holding down one doesn't hold down either of the other two). The idea is that all three snapdomes in each side "button" operate independently.

If any of the above tests fail, remove the four screws and add a spacer between the elastomer and the PCB. Reassemble and test again. Add the second spacer if really necessary... and with both you may need the extra long screws we included. Don't overtighten the screws, they are tightening into plastic and you could strip it out.

We'd appreciate hearing back about how many spacers everyone ends up using. Just more information for the database!

I'm going to hazard a guess that was mine. (NY, 11413?)

Anyway - Massive thanks for making these, and helping me out with an alternate payment method!

          - Luke.

Yep, USPS didn't like the /23 address suffix. We showed them the webpage for that location, and that it was an accurate address (really, with a dash instead of a slash), so they forced it through!

Do you have any extra Tige Touchpads left?

We have a waiting list, and we have some that folks reserved but we haven't since heard from them. We are starting to ship the waiting list orders now, from the units that haven't been "claimed" yet.

We have also asked our assembly house if they can assemble any more units with extra/overage parts left from production. Generally when you do a build, you over-order components in case some are damaged during assembly, etc. We may get a few more out of that. Those and all future units will be at the higher price mentioned earlier in this thread.

If you (or anyone else) would like to be placed on the waiting list, please send me a PM with your name and email address and we'll keep you informed.

                Thanks!

Quick question: Does anyone really need an installation video? Things are crazy here and we haven't had time to make even a really simple one. We can do it if necessary, but we think installation is straightforward enough that it may not be necessary in the short term.

Please let us know. We want to be responsive but saving the time right now would really help a lot. Thanks!

Hey ID - mine arrived a couple days ago. Thanks so much! I'm heading down to the lake on Friday and installing the panel is the first job on the list. Looking at the unit, I can't imagine needing an install video. I'll let you know I run into issues for some reason. Thanks again!!

Another wave of upgraded panels shipped today... this covers some folks on the original list who didn't get their paperwork here quite as quickly. The US destinations should see them Saturday (still in time for July 4th), the international destinations shortly after that.

FYI: Based on emails we've received, we asked if any extra panels could be built up by the assembly house from their "overage" parts. They've come through with exactly five extras. We've already had a couple of inquiries, and if anyone else missed the first production run we can ship these on a first-come, first-served basis. Then we're done with these panels until Fall or Spring.

                            Thanks!

Installed my panel today. Works perfectly. Sets well and up and down seems to adjust about 1/2 MPH per push. I used one spacer. Thanks to everyone who worked on this! It is a great update to a problem area for my boat, a 2006 22V.

I don't see a need for a video. It is all straightforward and easy to do.

Excellent, thanks for the feedback. We'll hold off on the video unless someone really needs it (and even then, a short phone call may clear things up quickly).

Anyone else install their panels yet? We'd love to hear how many spacers you used, for example. Useful for future production runs.

                                Thanks!
