It is extremely unlikely that the connector(s) are the source of the problem. The most common problem is failure of the flex circuit that connects to the snapdomes, as repeatedly documented here. If (and I still don't think this likely) the rainstorm was the cause, I would suspect the rain got into the snapdomes and is causing problems there.
Moving forward on that presumption: I would take the panel apart (you would need to do that anyway, to install our replacement panel) and examine the space between the rubber elastomer buttons and the flex circuit that has the snapdomes. If water is present, dry it out completely. Then plug in the panel and try the snapdomes without the elastomer in place.
