I finally found a 22v/ve that I liked and just put a deposit on it. just wondering what all I should look at when I go to pick it up. It has 385 hours on it. Its a dealership pre owned unit that has had a full inspection done on it. It has the speed set and taps on the boat. One negative though it has no ballast system at all and Surfing is the number 1 reason for getting into this boat so i will be adding my own system in from scratch. what else should I know about this or is there anything special to look for.

Just make sure everything works especially the Speed-Set. Thats a solid boat with no particular widespread model/year issues, sans the Speed-Set touch pad.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

Great boat, I have the same one. To me it's a sweet spot of simplicity vs features. I usually keep a boat for a dozen years, simple is good as I do most or all my maintenance and repairs. Puts out a great surf wake. Heck, I was surfing on it with no ballast with just a few large friends (4 on the boat, me on the board). It only gets better with weight!
I was close to upgrading to the latest and greatest but a small block GM engine and open loop EFI system should be easy to keep running or repair for a long time.
I got the biggest bags possible (from Mike), plan on making them permanent this year (again, will be getting with Mike). My main question is if I want reversible pumps or 2 pumps per bag (one for water in, one for water out). Don't mean to derail your post, there are plenty on this subject...

Congrats Moto X. I also have a 09 22ve. As Chpthril said. Stock ballast isn't anything to get excited about anyway. The custom sacs he sells are awesome. I plumbed in one last year for my port side. I ran dual fill and dual drain with aerator pumps that I had from a previous install. Also, had a third port added so I can do a cross over at some point as well.
My Vinyl has been holding up well except in the rear corner where the walk way is. Granted the seems were pulled apart when I bought the boat it's only gotten worse. On mine it's the corner of the large cushion along the back where the flip cushion sits. I'll wait a few more seasons and then get the whole thing redone. I've thought about redoing the back to be either one large cushion or two. I don't ever really flip the cushions over. Otherwise it's all in the maintenance to keep the vinyl soft and not exposed to the sun any more than it has too. Regardless it gets brittle over the years no matter what.

Here's some pics of my ballast install. The pictures of the bags are from Dukeofhazzard on here....he has a 2010 ve. You can see the bag only comes with one rear drain. I had 2 additional added. Again, dual fill, dual drain, and future crossover. Just need to save for the second bag and hope our dollar comes back up to be worth while.
