New head unit won't turn on

Bought a "like new" cmd6. Picture showed it working... I hooked everything up and nothing. I bought 2 new mw1 remotes that are hooked up to it with the y connector. Red with old red from the boat...yellow with yellow and ground with ground(there are 2 other thinner black wires...but I don't think they were hooked up before) blue remote wire hooked into a 5 pin relay for the amps and fan. But amps won't power up as well as the equalizer. So I would think relay block probably. .... other ideas what it could be? For a little bit the nav light switch and red light on the dash were blinking but after a put the on boat charger on it for a bit it went away....the batteries were unhooked for a month or so.

First is to get the batteries charge and make sure they are good. A low battery system will cause that and the amps will not power up. chpthrl will know what wires go where and will chime in. Till then, leave the charger on and disconnect the wire so you do not do any damage in case you have it wired incorrectly.

If the relay is wired correctly, then the amps and fan wont power up until the head-unit does.

Should only be one black head-unit round in that boat harness. I would first confirm that what you attached to was original ground wire. Next, check battery voltage on the yellow and then battery voltage on the red when the key is in the ACC position. Head unit needs nothing else to power up.

Got everything working, I had to run a new ground which is weird. All 3 black ones when connected to the cmd6 would make the nav light switch flicker. But now the nav light switch is still messed up. If I press down on the switch the tower light works. If I press the up switch for the front nav lights with the tower light on it just shuts off the tower light but the front green/red stay on when they should both be on together in the up position. Also red indicator light goes on when switched up. . If I have the courtesy lights on.....and then the nav switch up for all nav lights, it shuts the courtesy lights off. Very odd!! Thoughts! Didn't do this before I took out the old cmd4 and cut the wires from the back. There were some cords wrapped around the main ones that I cut as well since it looked just wrapped around to keep it all nice and neat.
