    Tige RZR Warranty Questions

    All,

I need some help. 2013 RZR that I bought leftover in the spring of 2014. So almost 2 years into the 3 year warranty. We love this boat. Surf wake is insane and it has never left us stranded. We did have a few minor warranty items this fall that our dealer says were denied by Tige. I'm looking to see if anyone knows if I have a leg to stand on in fighting this and the best way to do so.

    1) Gel-coat. There are two "pops" in the gelcoat in the transom/bottom. Very small maybe a 1/2" at most and i don't even see them nor do they affect performance. Can fill them myself but figured this would be considered a defect. Deal said gel-coat is not covered in the 3 year bow to stern warranty.

    2) Gel-coat. Near the flip up bolster seat there are some stress cracks in the corner on the surface. Very hard to see and do not effect the structure.

    3) Bimini. Thread is starting to come out in 2 locations and there are two small holes where the surf pockets are stitched back into the bimini. Guess I stuffed the boards in too tight. Our wakeboard rope is also rubbing away the rubber protection mat on top. Deal said only 1 year warranty on the bimini/canvas. It's not that bad and I could get it fixed easily locally but I don't think I should have to go through the hassle paying this much for a boat.

    4) A few times I filled the gas up and it overflowed from baking in my driveway or sitting at the ramp for too long on an decline. I stop it when the pump clicks. The graphics are ruined in that corner. I do not see a check valve and the gas comes out the vent. I want them to fix the graphics.

Any help is appreciated. Thinking of posting on Tige's Facebook page or something. I did call them in Texas but did not get a return call.

I have the same issue with the gas overflowing out the overflow vent. it's kinda dumb that you fill this thing up until the nozzle clicks off and then I spill gas out the overflow all the way to the boat ramp and the first 20 minutes in the water.
my supra never did that. I have gotten to the point that I listen to the sound and once I think it's close then I stop but don't think that's the way it should work.

learned to live with it. I too have lost some graphics from gas overflow but my graphics were a mess to begin with.

Resolution to items 1 - 3 are probably affected by your relationship with your dealer, but 2 years in could be an issue with any manufacturer. I don't think a one year warranty on canvas is unreasonable, but again, refer to my first statement.

So, for item #4, I have seen that issue not on Tige's but on other boat brands. Many times its an issue of thermal expansion and yes, it will come out of the vent. Not that this helps you, but I never leave mine brimming full in the heat of the summer. And yes, I have ruined a portion of graphics on my previous (non-Tige) because gas coming out the vent.

Thanks for the replies guys. Sounds like so far I'm not going to have much luck fighting this. If anyone has anything that can help, let me know.

Pretty much everything you have heard is true.

1-2. Gel coat is considered superficial and is never covered. Its not structural and stress cracks are not uncommon and they aren't covered. What you are describing on the transom is a void or sometimes called egg shelling, again not covered.

Warranty on Canvas is 1 year as far as I know. It's been brought up numerous times on here about the rubbing. I thought Tige was doing something to correct it, but I'm not in the loop anymore.

The gas thing I'm guessing Tige's answer is don't fill your tank so full. They can't change physics.

What 007 says is very true. Many dealers fix things like this, but things like this are a goodwill fix and not something your gonna be able to force them to do. I've had dealers warranty all of your above, but we both knew it was a courtesy.

The larger Racor will help some. It will handle up to 2.4 PSI of expansion. Again, don't fill it completely full. I am not sure if I have had my tank full since adding the Racor vs the cheap POS atwood check valve that does not help with thermal expansion (I dont think).

Here is the Racor I used.

What I've found helps when fueling is to turn the nozzle upside down and very slow flow, like the first click, and I listen for the sound to change, when gas starts coming up the filler tube. I don't wait for the auto shutoff from the pump, you'll get s gas shower every time. It's been this way on all my boats and all my friends boats too. Pretty cool that sandm's Supra didn't do it. I also fill up on the way to the lake so thermal expansion is minimized and I get the engine cranked and burning gas quickly after a fill up.

I would be somewhat bothered that you have not gotten a return call from Tige'. This is a huge pet peeve of mine, there is no excuse for a company esp one of Tige's size and reputation to not have the courtesy and respect towards you, to call you back in a timely manner. I agree with you on that for what these boats cost there should be some consideration, having many years experience with these kinds of scenarios, assistance results often times is all in the customers approach and asking tactics and relationship with the dealer. Even if 100% coverage is not provided but partial or maybe even 50/50 split dependent upon cost can go a long way with customers and manufactures relationships.

Still no feedback. I left a message with the dealer too for an update. I asked them the cost of new port (passenger left) side aft (rear) graphics. They are black vector style. I remember someone here saying they could make some for a discount vs. Tige pricing? Anyone remember the member?
