Buddy has a Bu VLX and actually ran into another boat while surfing cause he couldn't see over the bow even sitting on top of the back of the drivers seat.....other factors also were in play, but I won't drive his boat do the nose high orientation! Being listed never scared me and once people were on the boat for a few minutes they were just fine with it as well!

Surf system boats aren't as good, I will say it over and over. They are fun, but the wave isn't nearly as good. I like them for teaching and kids. That's about it. For a 22ve, just weight it with the methods everyone uses and you will have a killer wave.

You should make a trip out in my 16 If you are near CA.

I have had both an AVX and now the Taps 3 and I can assure you that after some dialing the wave is pretty damn close if not as good on my new boat vs my 15. The issue I was having at first was the steepness up front was not there vs the wave I was getting on my AVx. After some phone calls to some tige folk I started doing what they said which was to push the boat over a little. Not 8 degrees but around 4/5. As soon as I did that the more mellow wave took on that all famous AVX shape. So, when the family is riding and we are switching back and forth and back and forth I keep the boat level. When its the grown ups turn I push it over a little.

For me, I couldnt be happier.

One glaring aspect that I do see though is how rock solid the avx was in shallow water. Its not talked about on here enough. As long as depth was consistent the thing cranked out a monster, this system although fantastic just doesent share that trait however for me the convenience and easy of taps3 outweighs the shallow water benefit.
