Quick correction, I didn't mean you wouldn't have cash to pay for the trailer! I should have proof read. I meant you would have to pay cash for the trailer in the future and not finance it. My bad!

Order boat without a trailer?

I would pay cash for boat upgrade so now or later for trailer. As long as boatmate is in business I should be able to get one if I decide to sell boat.
As far as boating in a different location, maybe. I can go through lakes/rivers 3 hours one direction (and 3 back), and an hour the other direction is a lock then Lake Huron, so I can get to salt water in a couple weeks if I want! Every boat I (and my parents before me) had in the boathouse didn't use it's trailer once from the time the boat got put on the dolly and rolled up into it's home for summer and winter. I likely won't tow it to a different lake.
Thanks everyone for the input. I'm really leaning toward no trailer. I am in a very unique situation. It's tough to see an empty trailer sitting there, tires rotting, mice/critters making their home in it's cracks (in the woods, under a lean too). It's not really the money as much as a trailer wasting away unused...

The place I ended up buying from charged me $4k even and I felt that was a pretty good deal considering the 3 other locations in the area I called started at $5.5k and went up from there.
