    Convex Vx New Brackets

I have owned 3 Tige boats. I've been very happy with all of them. My current boat is a 2012 RZ2. I bought this boat used just last year from a Tige dealer. To close the deal, my dealer put on a vx for surfing. The boat already had the upgraded ballast (1100 lbs in the rear, 800 lbs up front). To say I was excited about the surf wake was an understatement. My surf wake was horrible. No push and no length. After a summer of messing around with ballast and new boards, I figured out I had the wrong VX brackets. I assumed Tige would have sent the dealer the correct brackets last year since this has been a problem for a long time.

I contacted my dealer and they haven't heard of the VX angle being a problem or Tige replacing brackets. They also told me if there were newer brackets I would have to pay for them since my boat didn't originally come with a VX. On top of all this, my dealer didn't even expect Tige to carry these brackets anymore since they are now on the taps 3 system.

I'm very frustrated with Tige. Tige knew they had a problem but continued to send out the wrong brackets. After requesting the new ones, Tige expects me to pay for them???? Has anyone had any luck getting these brackets from their dealer. If so, let me know who you went through. Maybe I'm just having problems with my Tige dealer.

Sounds like your dealer may have had a VX in stock, which could explain it having the old style brackets. I think the dealer would have to have requested the new brackets rather then tige just shipping them out randomly. Im known to speak my mind, so here we go. Sounds like you need to focus your frustration at the dealer for not keeping up on the product and not tige. Have you spoke with tige about the availability of the brackets and who picks up the tab? Id start there.

Now about the wave. If it were me, id drop the VX, the RZ produces a killer wave without it.

Even with the correct brackets I customized my vx even further and it's an un matched wave now, super long huge push and awesome on both sides of the boat

I changed the angle of it and also built myself a different taps plate , also I have a massive ballast setup to but its definatly awesome and its the same setup that a lot of the pro surf boats used to setup with.

I have a 2012 z3 that I added the vx to after purchase back in spring 2013. The original brackets as you have experienced sucked. My dealer was able to send me another set when the update came out in spring of 2014. Then last year there was another set of brackets that came out (3rd set) and I called about these and contacted Tige directly and they would not give them to me. I ordered them from the dealer. Around 600 for the pair if I remember correctly. I haven't installed the latest brackets but I have heard they are similar to setting 8 on the AVX.

I still think the dealer/Tige should at least pony up the replacement from the shitty brackets you got with the first early run of the vx's

I never heard of a 3rd set but then again I wouldn't need them anyway.image.jpg

You can tell if you have the old brackets because they have a hole in them. The proper brackets are a solid piece of aluminum, while the wrong brackets stand off a bit and have a gap.

Proper bracket is the one attached to my Vx in the pic.

Contact Tige directly and I bet they help you. I went through my dealer, but it was still somewhat painful. They felt the brackets weren't really a big problem. How wrong they were. Of course, they aren't a dealer any longer.

I'm also curious how 18C adapted these further. I am pondering a project to add a Taps3 or GSA in addition to the Vx. But that is a next winter project.

I have the brackets with the gap. Still no word from the dealer. I'll give them until tomorrow and then contact Tige directly.

correct brackets are not what I changed it was the angle of the vx and you need to have a good fiberglass guy to glass it after cutting also I cut into my platform brackets to get the correct angle

Can you post a picture? Your explanation isn't adding up for me. The brackets do change the angle of the Vx.

                        I don't mind a bit of fiberglassing....

Getting real frustrated. I just talked to the dealer. He told me that Tige never had new brackets for the RZ2. They only created new brackets for the RZ1 and RZ3? From what I've read on the forums, this just isn't true. Any ideas on the next steps to take?

                            In the mean time:

                            1) have you measured your VX setup compared to info here provided by Ragboy? I would probably reach out to him anyway. He likely knows more about the VX and the brackets then anyone outside of Tige.

                            2) lets dissect your ballast/speed/TAPS setup and try to fix the wave as is.

Yes. My measurement is only 2.5 inches. Ragboy said it should be between 3.75 and 4.25.

Best success I've had with ballast setup is full left(1100 lbs), full front (400), partial rear right, and taps around 2-3. Anything more I have 0 push (taps)
