Looking at tige with second gen tower? Any one have experience?

I'm looking at the Tige 21V/23V that comes with the Metcraft, I know this tower is a piece of junk. I found a boat with the following tower on it, and was wondering if this was a good upgrade, or would need replaced? I think this is the first tower Tige produced in house and put on the 2003-2007? Tige 22V's. Does anyone have experience with these towers in terms of structural rigidity? We would be doing half wake boarding and half surfing. Attached are pictures of the tower:

    Thanks guys!!

I don't know anything specifically about that tower, but I would venture a guess that any of the early towers are gonna shake and rattle.. That for sure looks better than the original Metcraft tower I had on my first Tige, but until you get in the boat and shake it around, you just won't know. My '03 came with a different tower.. I think it was made by wake designs but it's got the tige embossed aluminum piece on the sides.. It shakes a little too..

The towers above are Wake Design towers, not made by Tigé.

Ok thanks.. I'd always thought this was a wake designs version... Good to know. If My current is a Metcraft then it musta been a later version because I thought the simple style tower I had on my 97 pre2100wt (like below) was what the Metcrafts looked like... Good to know

This is the POS metcrap tower for sure. Metcraft did make another design for Tige and it was very good. IIRC, didnt Metcraft design the original composite Illusion tower that Bu used?

In terms of structural rigidity... our Wake Designs tower has a beef-up plate welded around the inboard bolt area. It was there when we bought our Tige two years ago. Since there has been spider cracks occuring in the add on weld. Not sure why this plate was added or if it was a repair. That being said we have had no problems with it. See it also has the "Tubbies" forward/aft facing speakers also by Wake Designs. I found its cool to have music all around when we are stopped/cruising but often wished they all faced aft for boarding/surfing. Enjoy!!

There is THE Metcraft tower and then there is the Metcraft tower.

The Metcraft to be scared of is in post #6. The one in post #2 is also made by Metcraft, but has proven to be a reliable tower. It is not as solid as the more modern towers, but not a safety risk.
