Ebay purchases

There is a guy on ebay I was able to counter offer on a new syn 4 for 320? Seems almost too good to be true but says he does audio installs on the side and a deal didn't go through and that's the only reason for selling. I'm just worried about not having a warranty in case something did happen. Thoughts? On here I always would feel comfortable but eBay is a little different. Good feedback but not a lot of feedback....just curious!

Without telling you what to do, i'll just try to give you my perspective on how it reads and what could happen.

Sounds like the seller is not an authorized Wet Sounds retailer. This means he's bought the gear from a retail and does so at little discount and only when he has a side job. Deal fell through and now he is sitting on gear with no near future home for it. Technically, this makes him the 1st purchaser. Next, WS is very clear about online sales and especially auction site sales. If some else buys this from this seller, this would technically make them the 2nd owner as they do not have the original sales receipt from the authorized dealer that originally sold it. Whether the component was actually opened or mounted and installed, it could technically be views as a used item. Bottom line, you may not have factory warranty and support.

the guy's feedback would be the go or no-go for me. if you watch the feedback and know who you are buying from, it can be a money saving transaction.

chp is right on the warranty issues. I bought polk mm-series 6.5" separates for my car from a non-authorized reseller a few months ago off ebay(product was brand new in box). one of the tweeters was toast when I installed the system 2 months later. polk sent me a new one free of charge and did not ask for the defective one back(only assuming due to me registering online with the s/n's when I got the box). talk about service that they didn't have to provide. not all vendors will be that accommodating.
