    New cabin speakers

Curious if right now I have 6 polk momo 6.5s. If I were to switch them out with wet sounds XS 808 would I have to get a new amplifier to run those or add an amp? Right now I have a javelin running those 6 and a subwoofer. Also wondering if they would even fit? Obviously I would have to cut the holes bigger. Another option would be to get the new polk mm6501's. Reason for the upgrade is 2 are blown and trying to get a loud and crisp in boat sound.

    Thanks!

Nope, not at all. A larger speaker will typically have have more output over a smaller speaker, and is more efficient to drive as well.

Not likely in the OEM spots that are in the recessed spots above the cup holders. A typical 6.5" speaker has an OD of about 7". The 808 is nearly 9" OD.

So question is ifor i can cut a larger hole or not right? Also I obviously need the separate component style so that the tweeter hole is used, correct?

Making the mounting hole larger is not the issue. The roadblock is that the 808 is nearly 9" OD and the space where at least 3 factory speakers mount, is only 7-7/8" wide. The 808 just wont fit in these locations.

Yes, thats the OEM wet sounds XS-650 in an 08. Same deck cap and speaker OD as your 06. With a 1/8" spacer ring and a little modifying, the Kicker KM8 will fit. Or look into the Arc Audio Moto 6.2 if you decide to stay with a 6.5" component. We can always work on a package price.

If I go with the kicker km8's, what about the tweeters from my old polks?

Pros and cons to any way you go. Larger speaker = more output and deeper midbass over smaller, but the KM8 coaxial leaves you a tweeter hole. Check out the JL M770 components for the best fo both worlds. Just a shade smaller OD then the KM8 but remote tweeter for the hole.

Would there be a big difference between the 770 jl's and the polk mm6501um? The 6.5 polks have higher watts rating.

A higher wattage rating really doesn't mean much unless it was significantly higher and you planned to drive it with that much more wattage.
