    Maximum Roll?

I know to achieve the ideal surf wake, it's recommended to fill ballast and stay between 5-7 degrees during forward movement. But does any know the maximum amount of roll? I would assume that there would be a point at which it can become unsafe, or take on water above the rub rail.

Depends on the boat. Most of the Tige hulls like to be listed so the run rails is at the water line or more.

Likely, but most Tiges will produce the class-A wave before this point. Ive surfed some pretty sacked out boats and never felt unsafe.

I run 7-8 degrees roughly on my 2015 r20. 900# stock filled plus a w005 bag on the surf side. Rub rail runs right at about water level, careful to keep fuel cap out of the water. No vx taps at about 5 on goofy side and 3.5 on regular side. Creates a great wave will plenty of push.

It sure is. We run on a rough lake with a full boat including kids. Have taken BIG rollers sacked out like this, and the boat is stable. Its amazing.

We first ran our 24Ve like that. But then we dropped the offside a few inches deeper into the water... and OH MY!

Safe but scary as HELL, er maybe I'm a wuss but I'm a big dude and when I walk over to the weighted side and my boat rolls, my balls draw up a lil bit no doubt! My daughter rips on the steep curl so it's all worth it!

Yeah, it can be a little creepy when the hull is listed and some rollers come along. I remember the first time - we're long-term whitewater kayakers and I felt the urge to set up for an eskimo roll. Totally serious! Just a reflexive reaction.

                        Dakota,

My wife's sister's boyfriend (that's a mouthful) just bought my old 24V from Bad05. He lives in Sioux City, IIRC. Which part of the state are you in? I am storing it for him for the winter since he can't use it yet anyway.

It feels great to have the beast back where it was raised.

                          60 miles north! Sioux Falls.

I need someone to adopt my beast this spring. It has a lot to give!

A lot of the "comfortable" levels is individual dependent. When I first starting driving for surfing, the boat was way more capable than I was comfortable driving with. Over time we get comfortable with severe lists/roll on the boat. I am pretty close to where Dakota is now, maybe not as extreme because I do run a bit of counter weight. I have never felt unsafe though, even in some light chop had water come over the side and never thought the boat would capsize on me.
My life's journey is not ending up looking pretty, its sliding in broadside, used up, worn out, screaming "What a Ride"

It is amazing that I have heard of virtually no boats capsizing or filling because of a roller over the side, or tipping because of rollers to the side.

Now boats can and will sink if you mismanage a large roller over the bow. That I have heard of lots of times while roaming the interwebs.
