    Tige R21

Anyone pick one up yet? Based upon our budget (<$70k), interests (surfing, slalom skiing, yanking kids around), slightly increasing interior size from our 20v, upgrading some of our features (automated ballast; better cruise control, stereo, layout), and interest in getting into a new boat, we are adding the R21 to our search list. Buying a brand new model has me a little concerned since there isn't a great deal of information out there on the boat. Any insight would be appreciated as we start looking at some options.

I'm pretty sure the r21 is a stripped down z1 is what I was told. Cheaper dash, tower ect. Makes the z1 more affordable. Similar to the rzr and r20.if your interested in buying a good used boat I will be upgrading my z1 to a z3 this spring.

Thats exactly what it is. So its not really a new model for them, more like a new trim level. The current Z1 hull has been in production since 2013 and there is tons of info out there on it.

just spec'd one out for you. For a 16' R21 with TAPS 3, Surf XL, heater, tower+racks, and the base stereo you could probably work a dealer down to 70 witht he base trailer....they will probably ask 75-80.

Tige lists the MSRP for the boat at $62,615 with the options you listed. Add the $800 for the heater and $5000 for a base trailer and MSRP and your still under$68,500. How would it be a "deal" at $70K? Dealer asking prices aren't usually 118% of MSRP, at least not around where I live!!!

          From Tige's site:
          R21 Price: $62,615 USD
*Includes Diamond Tower, TAPS 3 Surf System, Surf+Wake XL Ballast, Boat Cover, & Swivel Board Racks

lol,.... yeah seems a bit off...

That boat should be had for low 60s imo... You get the hull without paying for the bling... I guess they are trying to take some business away from entry level/value brands.

Good luck getting under $70k. Sure it's market dependent but the one i posted the photo of was above $70k but did have the Alpha tower and a nice trailer.

Lots of dealers do that. Place the boat at MSRP prices..When you walk in they give you a "deal"..

That price on the website only has the 4 in boat speakers as well. All other audio is an upgrade.

To be honest, I was surprised to see an R21 with the AlphaZ tower. That is a costly upgrade which will run the cost up even more. At a certain point if you add enough options to the R21, the Z1 would probably be a better fit. I am guessing we won't see too may R21/R22 with the AlphaZ Towers. If the Diamond tower is taller, I would prefer it over (no height pun intended) the AlphaZ as I really felt the AlphaZ was low compared to several other towers/boats.

I believe this will be HUGE for Tige. It will get different buyers to consider their boats and if the base boats are built well and produce a decent wake/wave and is supported by a quality dealer, they will most likely upgrade to a "nicer" Tige. Whereas, I am looking for our family's next boat to be simple, with few options, no bling that just produces a good clean wave...this is why my eye is on the R21

The $62,615 on Tige's website is the nationally advertised sale price for the boat optioned out like that without trailer/freight/set up/etc, not MSRP.

MSRP for the base boat is $57,630 which includes these standard features:
INDMAR 360 Motor Zero Off® GPS Speed Control CIPA Convex Mirror
R-Series Premium Paint Stainless Steel Rubrail Gussi Giazza Helm Wheel
Custom Upholstered Interior Aergo Seat with Flip up Bolster Hull Vinyl Ester Resin Skin Coat
R-Series Matte Silver Graphics Cooler with Bow Filler Cushion Active Touch Electronic Command Center

                        Diamond Tower - $3,556
                        TAPS 3 Surf System - $3,704
                        Surf+Wake XL Ballast - $4,444
                        Boat Cover - $1,000
                        Swivel Board Racks - $741
                        Base Trailer - $6,407

Total MSRP - $77,552 without Freight & Dealer Prep.

The R21 is a great boat!

Giving it up would be easy...big monthly payment to no monthly payment (thinking 1-2 years used). Sticking with just our 15' Boston Whaler (bought & paid for) for the next couple of year. So, when you think about it, we really went from G25 & BW 150SS to just a BW150SS, so the R21 really is an increase in bling

If the R21 is going to cost $70+ then they are gonna miss the mark. Atleast in my area lightly optioned Z-1's could be bought for that. Up till 2015 they could anyway. Prices haven't went up that much.

Sub 70K on a trailer out the door it makes sense. If it goes above $70K it doesn't at least not in my mind.

I guess I'd call the price Tige has on their website MSRP considering its the manufacturers web site and thats the price they are suggesting/ listing. You dealers can say what you will and I'm sure that logic works on some to make them feel like your giving them a good deal at list price. I've personally never paid more than 80% of MSRP on any new boat so I will stick with the logic I've been using. Having owned a lot of new boats and worked for more than one dealer I know the game pretty well.

I would assume a lightly optioned Z1 would pretty much equate to an R21 with a different tower and a few more interior color schemes correct? The one my buddy bought certainly has some options you won't see reflected in the online R21 price. He got the upgraded tower and trailer along with 4 Wetsound tower speakers, they added the hinges to the rear storage compartments near the platform and two transom remotes, one at the helm and one above the swim platform. He did not pay much over $70k for all that. The Z1's at the same dealer were listed well above his out the door price so assume pricing is fairly region dependent. There is no way you are getting a Z1 in DFW in the $70's.
