Sub 70K on a trailer out the door it makes sense. If it goes above $70K it doesn't at least not in my mind.

I guess I'd call the price Tige has on their website MSRP considering its the manufacturers web site and thats the price they are suggesting/ listing. You dealers can say what you will and I'm sure that logic works on some to make them feel like your giving them a good deal at list price. I've personally never paid more than 80% of MSRP on any new boat so I will stick with the logic I've been using. Having owned a lot of new boats and worked for more than one dealer I know the game pretty well.
we would sell an R21 for right about or bellow 70 with a tower, ballast, trailer and a couple options depending on what you get. remember...dealers have flexibility at MSRP that is not our cost.

not sure what you mean by that, I made the statement to say that a boat usually(at least in my experience) sells a good bit bellow MSRP....just a freindly reminder that MSRP doesn't dictate real world price tag.

Hence Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price? I always find the discussion of value & pricing interesting, but pointless. Most organizations use the age old supply/demand model. If there is a demand, they will supply the product. If the demand is high, they can (and usually do) raise the price of the product. If the demand is low, the market dictates a restructuring. We can get on this forum all day and complain/gripe/scoff at how much a dealer is asking for a boat, but if they are getting it, how can you possibly fault them? Now, from a consumers perspective, if said product is not a good value for me (and many others), that supplier risks pricing themselves out of the market and potentially out of business. My take - if Dealer "A" can overprice and still sell, I may not agree with their business ethics, but who am I to argue their sales approach if it's working for them? I can always take my business elsewhere, and find a better deal. I just dont see the need in saying "youre over-pricing, I got mine for xx,xxx". Good on ya, but dont fault the dealership for asking what they think the market will bring. Rant over. Stepping off soap box.

I agree with you but there is one caveat to that, which could hurt the consumer. Say a customer goes in and they have decided on a new Tige and only a new Tige. They live in one of the regions where prices are high and dealer "a" has no problem selling boats at listed prices. If they have their heart set on a new Tige that consumer is stuck paying that price because they are not allowed to buy a boat from another region (new boat) who may have better pricing. Granted they could wait a year and get a dealer leftover that is considered "used". Not a huge deal obviously but something to think about. It's a business for sure and the goal is to make money so the consumer has to understand that as well.

I think I follow you, except the "not allowed" part. Granted, you wouldn't be able to receive service from said dealer if you purchased from another location. However, I know of at least one family that drove 5 hours to Las Vegas because the dealer there had the boat they wanted, when they could have purchased a Tige from a dealer 45 minutes from home. They now have to drive 5 hours to receive warranty service, but maybe it's worth it to them to deal with that particular dealer. We are all allowed to take our Tige business elsewhere.

You may be able to take your business else where, but typically the manufacturer has dealer territories that the dealers are not supposed to violate. I am not sure if Tige has this in place in their dealer network, but I know Nautique and now Centurion does and we all know the horror stories about Malibu boats bought out of territory and their luck with service and warranty.

Jmcclain01- you are right. I stand corrected. Now that I remember it, I believe that purchase made in Las Vegas from the Southern California family was not appreciated by Tige corporate.

Tige is pretty strict in regards to territory. We can self a boat out of territory but, we would have to work something out with the dealer that would be in that particular region before the sale would go through.

There are pretty steep penalties for selling out of territory if you do not work it out with the dealer in the other region before the sale goes through.

So a question about territory... I fall between 2 dealers. Bradford marine in Springdale AR and Performance marine at LOTO.. I live just across the state line into Arkansas, but only boat in Missouri on Table Rock. Bradford is about 45 minutes from me in Arkansas and Performance would be about 2.5 hours north into Missouri.. Which dealer would I go to? Do regions follow state lines? Do I stick with Bradford since my residence is in Arkansas? The boat I currently own came new from the LOTO dealer..

I think you should get the dealers to fight to the death to see who wins your business...
