Once I get my bearing again and learn the shallow spots during the day I will be planning my evening surf routes. I will be happy to take you out for session (and anyone else looking for an evening session. I will have plenty of glow sticks (for the life jacket) for who ever wants to get an evening session in.

If I read the chart right that I just googled, the moon will not be up until after midnight. That might make it pretty dicey. Even a little moon light would be nice to get some landmarks set up.
      Be excellent to one another.

Last year, I used the channel buoys. That worked pretty well. I bought night vision for further insurance for the night runs. Hopefully my mechanic can find the mystery of my boat so I can bring it.

Got your PM but for some reason it won't let me do a reply it just gives me a "Proxy Error".

No problem, let us me know what you plan to do. The shirt orders are closed, but we did get extra shirts so we should be able to fill your order.

I have tower lights that work pretty well for night surfing and I put a glow stick on the life jackets for extra insurance. I need to upgrade to more underwater lights to really light up the water but for now it works pretty well.

Awesome, thanks again Mike! See you Thursday for dinner, winds are supposed to be howling at Temple Bar on Thursday (2 mph) so we might be a little late, might get stuck on the water!

Yeah if the winds are cranking like that, I might be late to dinner as well........

Are their significant shallow spots in this area? Or are we being overly cautious?

Overly Cautious, the water level has changed drastically over the last 4 years we have been going so its always a little slow the first trip out just to check everything out. The ONLY difficult piece of the whole trip for us is launching, its shallow and a long (dirt) ramp, last year my truck bed was in the water before the boat barely started to float and I still had to power off the trailer. Once your off the trailer and away from the dock its 15 feet in the harbor and drastically drops off to over 100ft+ in the bay and stays that way pretty much everywhere as long as your in the middle. There are no sandbars or anything out in the lake but the coves can be deceiving, they look deep till you get in there then realize that some are only 2-3 feet deep. There is so much surface area of water out there that whether you go north or south you may only see one or two other boats and they are will most likely be apart of our group.

It is a treacherous lake in parts. Fortunately it is very deep in the main channel and quite clear. So I worry about hitting something at night, but I think if you are paying attention in the day, you have no need to fear.

I've not seen more buttery smooth water than at Lake Mead in September.

I was thinking this same thing? This will be my first time at Lake Mead and I am not sure if I should be overly worried about the water level. I did pick up a marine radio to stay in touch with everyone though.

Lastly Brad/Dave: I wanted to update my headcount because I had one person back out. It will just be three (3) of us in my group and the one (1) boat. My brother and I will arrive Friday morning and my third guy will arrive Friday later afternoon. No changes to T-shirt or Coozie requests though.

I should have my new bimini and tower lights installed by then!
