    Ohio Tige Owners

We have been spoiled the last 20 years living in Northern WI with hundreds of lakes at our disposal. Plus we were only 55 minutes from our family cottage that was on a 3,000 acre lake.

There is a very good possibility that we are going to move to the Cincinnati area. We are just starting to look at homes now...ugh...

What are the best lakes that you can surf, tube and just hang out on on? Are there any nice lakes close to Cincinnati that have homes?

We already know Norris Lake as we vacation there, but we are looking for closer lakes.

    Thanks for your help.

Hey Booms , we live a little north of Cincinnati near Kings Island, if we're not at Norris or Lake Cumberland in Kentucky we usually head to Ceasars Creek in Waynesville Ohio. Not a bad lake just gets really busy on the weekends. They are currently putting in a marina with slips so I'm sure there will be a load of sail boats in the slips that never get used. Another lake to look up would be East Fork Lake on the east side of town, not bad either just pick your riding times in either the morning or evening wich is true for almost all lakes. Look us up! Just leave your cheese head at the door! Go Bengals...

        Booms,
Ceasars Creek in Waynesville Ohio will be your primary lake closest to Cinci.
Rocky Fork Lake not bad in OH
        East Fork Lake OH
Brookville Lake in Indiana (another state license)

Where we live we mostly go to Eastwood lake in Dayton by the AF Museum (small 2 mile lake from an old gravel pit on "even" days of the month for power boats, "odd" days for jet ski's).
Yes: Norris Lake is the best.
CJ Brown (AKA Buck Creek) in Springfield OH. Round open lake can get rough from wind at times.
Hope to see you some time!

I was at Buck Creek most of the season this year....I'll have to take a few more trips out to the Hydro Bowl to try and run into another Tige owner!

We made it to Ceasar's Creek only once this year and it was crazy crowded......

My buddy in my office keeps his boat down in Cincy and runs the river a lot.....Just a heads up, Modern Marine/Antique Boat Center in Cincy is a fantastic dealership/shop to take your boat too......Matt (Company President) is a legit dude and he rocks an RZR....He's been thinking about picking up Tige as a brand but is understandably hesitate due to Southern Ohio already being swamped with tow boats from No Wake (Nautique, Axis, Malibu) and Mastercraft......

Brookville Lake in Indiana is a nice lake. A few coves for surfing, a good restaurant, decent ramps. Not crazy busy. We spent many weekends there on a friends Bu that was always just registered in OH.

I grew up in Cincinnati and just moved to Southeast Wisconsin at the end of 2014. I lived Northwest of Cincinnati, right on 275 and we mainly boated on the Ohio River. Don't let the river scare you, there is plenty of good water, just need to be aware of barge traffic. We usually put in at Tanner's Creek in Indiana, or if we were going up river to the City or to catch a concert at Riverbend, we would put in at Riverside or Schmidt Fields. The Licking River is a bit narrow, but the water is usually glass up the channel with it being tree lined, protecting the water from the wind. It's a fun day trip to head south and go to the locks and back. No matter where you are at, there are plenty of marinas both upriver and down river.

If we weren't on the river we would go to Brookville Lake in Indiana. Another good choice for all water activities. As others have previously mentioned, Ceasar's Creek (which is always crowded).

Depending on where you are wanting to live and where you're working, there is a private lake in Indiana Called Hidden Valley Lake. I've only been on the lake once and they have a 20 foot power boat restriction... lots of water front homes though.

What part of the city are you thinking of relocating to? If you have any questions about the city let me know, I'd be happy to help.

There are several private lakes with waterfront housing close to Cincinnati, depending on what your definition of close is...
                Lakengren, Eaton, OH
                Lorelei, Fayetteville, OH
                Elk Lake, Owenton, KY
                Williamstown Lake, Williamstown, KY
                Hidden Valley Lake, Lawrenceburg, IN
                Waynoka, Sardinia, OH

These are all very small private lakes that are fully developed with Property Owners Associations. They all have different rules regarding boat size, allowable activities and other restrictions. Read the rules before you consider any of them.

We live in Canton, OH and take our boat to Salt Fork State Park in Cambridge, OH. It is one of the nicest lakes and would be a 2.5 hour drive from Cincinnati, but they have a really nice campground and makes for a nice get away. The lake sits in a valley and calms down pretty quick. It is very large with 2 ski zones and plenty of party coves and scenic no wake zones.

Thanks for the info guys! We also love Norris but the 3 hour drive every weekend would be a killer with out a house there. Unless you guys would let us crash at your place. Free use of our Z3...
We will check out the lakes and the OH River. I saw there are a few marinas on the river. When ever I drive over the river the water looks toxic.. does not look inviting...

The wife and I are going to be in The Nati December 3rd - 6th to look at homes and check out the area. I am pretty familiar with the area but she is not. So it will be stopping at schools, neighborhoods and that kind of stuff. When we are all done we will have to stop by Rhinegeist for a beer or twelve.

I recommend hitting up Rivertown brewery first for sours, the Mad Tree for beers/brick fire pizza, then finish the night off at Rhinegeist.....

Yeah, Norris Lake is like heaven on earth. We did house trips down there the weekend before Memorial Day for years in a house that slept 32 people...talk about a party. I feel like everyone is catching on to Norris, and has gotten crowded within the past few years. But that can be any lake depending on how you time it. A friend of mine has a nice set up on Lake Cumberland and we have been going there more often now. The nice thing about Norris is when you get off the highway, you are at the lake. Cumberland you still have another hour drive off the exit.

Give the river a chance! Go down river if you can and check out Mariner's Landing Marina, it'll get you closest to the best water, and it's right next to the Cabana Bar, and a nice cruise to Drew's and Ludlow Bromley Yacht Club.

There is a ton of development and good schools in the West Chester, Liberty Center, Mason, Kings, area in Ohio. In Indiana, Dearborn County has good schools and seems you can get a bit more land and house for the money there. In Northern Kentucky, check out Villa Hills,... Just have fun with traffic getting over the I-75 bridge every morning.

This is a pretty cool way to check out a few of the bigger breweries in the area http://www.craftconnectiontours.com/

BurnMac - I don't think I would be able to walk if we do that back to back to back. Thank you Uber!

SMMS - Thanks for the info. We are going to look at house in Indian Hill, Hyde Park, Anderson Township (I do not know about here as it just looks like a ton of houses on top of each other, however more in our price range.), and the Mariemont area. West Chester is another area we are looking at.

We just booked a house on Norris the last week in July. Looking forward to a week in heaven. Plus a 3 hour drive versus a 14 hr. drive is going to be nice.
