    Thinking about purchasing a 21V

    So as the title states, thinking about buying a 21V.
    I know there are the limited editions (nicer interior from my understanding), riders edition (that Met craft tower, which i've heard is a piece of crap, and different graphics), Then the Fox Racing edition (Different graphics and interior?) also read that in 2000 the Fox Racing edition was limited to 100 units? Does anyone know if Tige ever released production numbers? I've also seen that the riders have the 350 mag with 300 or 315 horsepower. But some i see listed at 270 HP? i thought they all had the same engine and horsepower rating. Just trying to expand my knowledge on these boats, so i know what i'm getting into.

    I have a 2000 21v Fox Racing Riders Edition. It has the Black Scorpion 330 hp motor. Not sure on the number made. I didn't know I had the fox racing edition boat until a few weeks after I got it home from the dealer. All the stickers were removed but I could see the marks left behind of them. The interior is a pretty ugly olive green and white. I can't believe that was in upgrade? Other than that I have been very happy with the boat so far.

      There are 3 motors, and I don't think the model (i.e. Fox vs. riders edition) had anything to do with the motor. From my understanding motors were an option during the build process, correct me if I am wrong 21v guys. There is the carb 5.7 which is 270hp. I have the EFI 315hp 350 MAG MPI, and there is the EFI Black Scorpion with 330hp. Interiors may vary slightly, but they are all very similar. Great boat, I love my 21v and all I do is surf these days. They are built like tanks and can handle a good amount of ballast. Replace the tower right away, you are correct the Meta Craft towers are ****

        Fox Edition boats had a solid white interior.

          Have the riders edition with 315 up. Mostly while interior with some grey accents. I have a wake designs tower. Not sure if it came that way or not. Have had two seasons and has been a great Tige for my family. Ours had the teak platform. I think I llike the looks of the fiberglass with rubber mat better. I am always oiling it and cleaning my white interior. Good luck and welcome

              In 2002, there were other towers used all over the place. A couple of those have been OK.

              I think the one I had on my 02 was pretty nice, but not many of them were made.

              This is the crappy tower to beware of:


              I felt that this tower was great and was the factory tower on certain 21V boats: This is my old 21V. Great boat.

              Be excellent to one another.

                Another happy 21v owner.....

                I put the Indy tower on mine and think it looks great....like others have mentioned, definitely get rid of the Metcraft tower.....I'm also looking at replacing my trailer so keep that in mind when shopping for a 15 yr old boat.....

                  I had the 315hp motor. It was no enough, I then had the 330hp motor and it was. There must of been a good Torque difference as well. Try to find a 330hp model if possible.

                    Thanks to all that have responded. I've done my research, but it never hurts to get opinions from people that have owned the boats as well. Thank you for the feedback, and I'll continue shopping and try to find a good deal.

                      Quick Question
                      Is there anyway to tell the difference between the 270HP merc and the 315HP. Any markings on the engine cover, or anything like that?

                        The 270hp is a carburetor engine and the 315hp is MPI.

                          The 315 will say MPI right on the plastic covering on the flame arrestor, same with the black scorpion.
