    Phoenix guys...

We are thinking about going to Mesa to visit family between Christmas and New Years. We'd like to bring the boat if the water in the local lakes is at least upper 60's. We don't have wet suits yet. Maybe Santa will surprise us though. Any idea on what water temps will be?
    Thanks.

Plan on upper 50's low 60's. Been up that way before that time of year, water is a little beyond cold (IMO). Dry Suit, with some therma-pads (usually used for sore muscles but if you wrap one around your chest it keeps you warm.)
My life's journey is not ending up looking pretty, its sliding in broadside, used up, worn out, screaming "What a Ride"

58 to 60 would be my guess. Will also depend on the day, it could be 75 and sunny or 55 and cloudy. I have trunked it on New Years day when it was 80 and sunny one year. Most of the winter I will wear a 2mm long sleeve top and some 2mm shorts.

Thanks for the feed back. I guess I'll watch the weather as we get closer and see what we decide. It'll be a nice mid winter fix for us.

Yep, Havasu (about 3 hours from Mesa) is usually in the high 50's around that time. But for me, that usually means full suit (3/2) and booties and gloves. No dry suit, though.

Last week the water was in the low 70s, but it is starting to drop quickly as average air temps are dropping. As others have said, you can expect low 60s to high 50s by the end of the year.

Looks like Santa will be bringing wetsuits for the kids!
