I retired in 2006 from the Navy, and at the time, I honestly didnt think they could design anything better than the Arleigh Burke Class Destroyers (I served on one)... but 45 knots?!? THAT'S impressive! The only thing surfing those wakes will be the dolphins... always fun to watch.
The majority of those are being commissioned from Marinette Marine in WI. I had a chance to see a few of them in the water and on dry dock this summer when there for my son's Baseball Tourney. Impressive. Plus I got to have a few beer with the Navy guys working on the boat that were staying at the same hotel as we were.
That video is testing in Lake Michigan. If my memory proves me right that testing was during the Labor Day long weekend and the wake of the ship caused numerous boats damage while anchored in a bay. I thought I saw the link on here or WakeWorld about the damage.
