Tige 21i making 'bubbling sound' after engine is turned off?

Hi there friends. I have noticed a bizarre problem with my 2005 Tige 21i. After I shut off the engine, it's as though the boat 'takes on water', since there is a bubbling sound that lasts about 20 seconds of so under the transum? I would think nothing of it, however the bilge pump kick in shortly after? Is this 'normal' ? What comes to mind is that water is taken on to cool the engine and pumped back out?

Anyone ever encounter this , please let me know

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Got it too!

Isn't it just water entering the two exhaust that are covered with black rubber flaps right underneath the swim platform?
My 21i does it, but we never have the bilge pump come on. I just assumed it was normal.

Yep, that's what it is. The bottom portion of the exhaust pipes filling with water. Therefore the bilge pump will not come on due to the fact that the bilge is not getting water in it.
I'm on a boat man. I got my flippy floppies....

the bilge probably kicked on due to you already had some water and when you came to a stop it rolled to the bilge area instead of being in the back of the boat when it was moving. The bubbling is just water coming in the flappers it happens often on my 03.

k, the bubbling I now understand, but the bilge going on often (say 4 to 5 times per day) for 1 to 2 mins is bizarre. there seems to always have water near bilge. Anyone else experienced this or is my boat taking on water somehow?

          thanks
          Mike

I seem to be plagued with leaking ballast pumps, if you have a ballast system you could check those.

Also check your exhaust logs. There should be a section of the floor you can access behind the motor box. The mufflers run to the back of the boat on either side of the drive shaft. Make sure all the hose clamps are tight.
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Most likely source of water is the shaft. Do you have the PSS seal or the older style with the flax cord. If the latter, then it has to be redone or checked every year to two. An '05 should have the PSS seal. Those don't normally have a problem, but worth checking.
