    Tige 20v potential purchase

2007 tige 20v for sale, things i know
    1175 hours on a 5.7 340 horse GM vortec.
    no ballasts
    Things that need attention:
    interior needs reupholstered
    blower doesn't work
speakers need replaced/head unit need replaced. it's not a clairon.
    taps 2.0 doesn't work.
    speed set doesn't work.
couple 6 inch gouges in the fiberglass down to the gelcoat.
the bottom pylon for towing people has been epoxied back into the fiberglass.
multiple decals missing on the boat.
    rub rail is completely gone,
tower but no wake board racks.
    fuel gauge doesn't work.
This boat is in fair condition at best.

Anyone know what a good price to pay is, or anything to check/look out for?
    thanks.

That boat sounds beat. I would really worry about the condition of the motor and trans considering the way the owner took care of the rest of the boat. What you have listed will cost you north of $10K to get it back to a nice condition boat.

Personally as a seasoned boat buyer I'd walk away from that…rather run. Your likely going to have to put more into it than you can ever come close to recouping. If you have to have it, considering what you have said and the time of year, i'd think in that $15K range.

Yes, there are no weird noises or whining from the engine or trans, however i do not know how reliable the motor and trans are. do they have any weak spots?
I'm looking for a boat to cruise around on, not really looking to get my money back.

The GM 5.7L V8 are as reliable as any labeled by Merc, Valvo, PCM or Indmar, as they all start with the same block. The ZF trans has been used by just about all the other tow boat brands. based on that list, id put this boat at minus low book as best. Heres is what NEEDS to be address ASAP:

        blower
        TAPS
Speed-Set (only cause its a tow boat)
        large gel issues
        rub rail
        fuel gauge

Pylon ripped out and repaired? this could be a deal breaker for me. Depending on your boating and boat repair skilz, I would consider getting an independent inspection done. If the boat comes back sound structurally and mechanically, then get an estimate to bring the boat to average book, and back up from there for a price.

I believe I would just keep looking, unless this baby is like $10k or less. Even then though you could be sinking 10 more in before you know what happened.

          Of course, IMHO.

Well, make a rock bottom offer. You could always just get it going good enough to use.

run away. Unless they are giving it to you it sounds like an abused boat. Gotta wonder what jack assery was going on to rip the pylon out.

The owner said that it was rented out most weekends to try and gain back some of the money the owner was losing while not using it.

Holy cow, now its a "run away" for sure. Rentals are NOT treated well in my experience!

I no longer wonder about the jack assery. If my brother gave it to me I would probably take it. I would never pay more than 30% blue book for it. Even still, who wants that pain. Boats are supposed to be fun and they are only fun when they are reliable.
