Z3 with AVX or tapps 3

pretty much got it narrowed down to the color combo I think but now im struggling with avx or tapps 3? im leaning hard towards taps3 and after next weekend if the weather is nice il have a definite decision. also I have an idea for the taps 3 that will be awesome I think, just depends on next weekend. what do all you current z3 owners that have avx think? I know the avx has an awesome wake after its dialed in but being able to throw the switch and go that's tough to beat I think.

I am a wake snob. I would rather have an awesome wave then switch side to side instantly. Now I have not rode behind a 16 with Taps3 so I can not say that the wave is not as good as an AVX wave. We love our 15 Z3 AVX. It takes 5 to 10 mins to switch side to side. Which is ok with us.

Good luck making your decision. Let us know how next weekend is with pictures.

They both have their advantages. For the endless wave tour we could switch weight side to side in around 3-1/2 minutes if we really wanted to push it but we also run dual crossover pumps. I have grown to like the AVX wave and it is unmatched size wise by any taps 3 boat I have seen to date. That being said I have started riding both sides and I like the ability to be able to switch at the push of a button. I would also say taps 3 boat has amazing push in the wave. For a comp wave I would choose AVX all day. If it was my personal boat it would be taps 3 and I bet I could get it close to AVX but wouldn't have the adjustability on the fly without AVX.

I love our Z3 with AVX. The adjustability is great to suit all styles/level of riding. The fuel economy is fantastic with listing instead of all tanks full. We keep the boat on the water and fill from a 12 gallon container to avoid marina gas prices. Good fuel economy is important for us.

I have not ridden a taps 3 yet so I have no comparison. My only concern now with our '15 Z3 is resale down the road. In 5-10 yrs I think all models will have side to side capability. I believe that's what the used market will be after.

Just my 2 cents. I really believe you can't go wrong with either.

Can you elaborate on the ballast setups between this EWT w/AVX boat and the TAPS 3 boats with a lesser wave? The TAPS-3 Z3 we got to demo at the Mead event last month was in full stock trim and the wave looked to have great potential. IMO, it needed a little more ballast and WAY more time to experiment with the ballast configurations. Sadly, only the pro was allowed behind the wheel and didnt seem willing to alter the ballast from what they had first set up.

As it was, it was 100% bow, 100% port and about 80% stbd. Wave had good height with lots of drive. Transition was smooth. Pocket was long and recovery was effortless.
