Anyone actually buy during the boat show?

I am wondering if people actually purchase during the boat show... Did it truly save money or was it just a shell game to move the same discount around? Let me know what has worked and what hasn't! Thanks.

    Guilty of that, twice.

I'd like to think I got a good price. There's a lot of competition there. It's easier to negotiate in my opinion.
Especially on the last day of the show.

Bought ours at the show. We saved more then if we were quoted 2 months before. But we also bought a left over so they were willing to move it.

I know with some brands, the boat show discounts are better than what you can get during the spring/summer season, but as duderdude mentions, leftovers will typically always offer a better value than new current model year.
I bought my 22ve in july and got the same boat show discount they were offering in the spring but it was the last year of the ve so I think they wanted to move it.

Ours was a boat show boat. Made deal contingent upon liking the demo as well as selling current boat. Demo'd a couple weeks later, finalized deal.

I have bought at the shows. I don't think the deals are necessarily better. Some of the manufacturers so offer some free stuff during the shows(free upgrades, warranty, etc.) so that can sweeten the deal some.

How about before the boat show? A dealer told me to come in a few weeks before the boat show and the deals are typically better. The manufacturer doesn't want to take the chance of having a potential customer lured away by the competition. I'm going to give it a shot. If the deal isn't anything great I'll head to the show and see what deals are available.

We bought before the show with enough time that our RZ2 could be featured. We got the show discount plus an additional $500 to have it on display. The dealer liked being able to put a SOLD sign on it mere hours after the show began.

They placed it prime real estate, right on the corner. It was loaded and it was beautiful

I bought our Ve at the boat show (ordered) and I think I got a good deal, about 10k off and the best part was taking care of my trade. Agreed to my price which equaled the payoff, sight unseen all I had to do was provide pictures and my word. My trade was in great condition and moved very quickly once the dealer got it after us taking delivery of out tige 2 months later.

I bought my 2007 22VE in October of 2006. I got 20% off that one. I also purchased my 2011 RZ2 at the boat show . I ordered it also. I got 27000 off on it. I could have bought a earlier model 2011 that didn't have the catalytic exhaust for 1500 less but it didn't have all the options I wanted. I purposely left off the percentage off on my 2011. It was a higher percentage off than the 2007. The more options you get the higher the percentage you can get off. The markup on accessories is higher% than the boat itself. Most people look at dollars off but I look at % off. Make a deal on a base boat. Then get a quote on one with the options you want. Compare the percentages and see which one is higher percentage. Most dealers will sell a in stock older model or a boat ordered at the boat show for less. The boats they have already ordered for the current model year are ones they are willing to test the market with. The older in stock and new orders are bonus sales and give the dealer incentive to sell at a lower profit. The older in stock boat needs to go to free up capital for more boats. The new order is a already sold unit which helps the volume discount for number of boats sold. Also if a representative from the manufacturer is there you will most likely get between 1500 to 3000 dollars in accessories thrown in on the deal.

I bought my 2013 Z1 off the showroom floor at last years Los Angeles boat show...showed up on the last day of the show hours before close happened to be in the area and decided to stumble in. Definitely had NO INTENTIONS of getting a boat, it was not even a thought for a second! However, I fell in love and got a KILLER deal..... worked out really well for me, usually some great incentives for the show that actually get better as the show gets closer to the last day.....
