Oil change on a 2006 22i

I just purchased a 2006 22i with a GM Vortec 5.7L MPI 340 HP engine. How do I remove the oil, do I have to extract it from the dip stick hole, or is there an easier way?

There should be a hose coming from the drain plug on the oil pan with a plug on the end of it. You run that hose down through the bilge plug right in front of the motor. Then you can pull the plug out of the end of the hose so that the oil can drain right into whatever your using for a used oil container. Piece-O-Cake.

Thanks, but unfortunatly there is no hose coming off the oil pan on the 2006. It looks like I'm stuck draining from the dipstick.

No ****! I know you can add one yourself. I doubt it will be the easiest thing in the world to do but, it's a must have in my opinion. Sorry dude, that sucks.

check your owners manual...i have a merc and it had it in there on how and where to look to change oil. It is simple if you have a hose to drop thru

Thanks for this advice. I've been suffering with trying to extract thru the dipstick which is an exercise in frustration. Found this thread when winterize my 07 22i today and found the hose. Fittings didn't fit well but considerably faster than thru the stick... Should be easy to build a hose to fit for next year
