My v drive fluid looks exactly the same, change it every season and always looks like that. I even started a thread with the same concern and questions. I am suspicious of a small crack or leak from the raw water supply that moves thru the oil cooler built into the V drive. It's never seriously over full but always ends up looking like that. I keep an eye on it and don't get to worried, the vdrive is not to complex of a unit so a small amount of condesation or water shouldn't hurt to much. At 1st I feared the worst, but have monitored closely the past 4 seasons and all is still okay and working good, hope it stays that way and doesn't get worse.

just checked my v-drive and it looks the same. Used my evac and sucked it out.Not sure where or how the water got in. Now trying to find mobil delvac synthetic trans fluid 50 to fill it back up.
Mobil Delvac Synthetic Transmission Fluid 50 is available in gallons from eBay. I ordered a gallon earlier this season and replaced my v-drive fluid. No milky color, but figured after several years of working hard it deserved new fluid.
I could not find that lubricant anywhere locally, and I looked hard. YMMV.

Grainger stocks it and delivered the next day, cheaper than I could drive to their store and pick it up.
So here is my luck. I pour diesel in there and flush it out twice. Pretty sure all gunk is gone. Ready to pour in my SAE-30 non-detergent. In my infinite wisdom I thought I'd blow some air through there just to make sure all drops of diesel are gone. As I am blowing air in there the tip of my compressor blower snaps off and guess where it goes? Yep - right into the v-drive.
9 bolts, some serious prying, a bunch of swearing, some bloody knuckles, and 2 hours later I get front plate of v-drive off and manage to get the little bugger out of there. Made sure not to damage contact surfaces and then re-assembled. Put plug in and put my litre of oil in there. At least now I got to see first hand that the gears and bearings look fine.
Thank God I can have put an end to this project. Here is a photo if my unit all back together. Also spend a good hour cleaning the whole inside. You can see my new red dipstick.
That's a recurring nightmare of mine - that I'll be squirting storage oil into the cylinders and the little straw adapter will shoot off and go straight into the spark plug hole. I've had them shoot off like that multiple times, so I don't trust them... I hold the straw with one hand and the can with the other, just to be sure.
Lesson learned, eh? Hold the end of the implement so it can't fall in. Glad you got it out without incident. Yikes!
