if the prop is slipping, causing cavitation, then a better prop will bring the prop slip down to an acceptable rate, usually > 10%. At 6K feet elevation, you know the engine is struggling to make power. This can result in low RPM with higher throttle input. A prop upgrade will improve hole shot and bring the engine RPM back into the engines optimal power making range. In short, i dont think you will see an increase in fuel consumption.

Are you running this on an RZ2? Going from a 13.5 to a 15 would be a big difference!

I have a 2007 rz2 with the marine power 340. The boat runs with full listed surf ballast at 2800 rpms at 6500 feet. Four or so adults. The prop is a 1235. I am very happy with it. 8 adults may be a different issue. I have a bit more water in my stern lockers than most. 2x400's in the front full. I moved the rear locker panels back about 8 inches and removed the cooler and moved the batteries to the middle of the boat. Custom Enzo bags.

Oh, and I meant elevation, not altitude i hope we are all boating at lake level
So yesterday I was talking to ACME and they told me for my 2007 RZ2 in Utah to go with the 1617? The lake we usually boat at is around 5400 feet elevation wise. What is the main difference between the 1617 and 1235 Chpthril? Thanks!

The 1617 is .5" smaller diameter and lower pitch. At a higher elevation lake, this may help the engine spin up faster, as it takes less power to spin a smaller wheel. The 1617 is still larger dia and must less pitch than the common 537.

Perfect thanks for the info, plus it's $50 bucks less than the 1235, so there's that too!
