This is a 22ve. Not mine but something for reference. Also, it will not work with the VX pretty obvious after seeing the pics.tige-22ve-2.jpgtige-22ve-3.jpgtige-22ve-4-1.jpg

I'm really considering one of these. http://wake-shaper.com/ Even ballast and an awesome wave. If it works like it appears it would be worth every penny at $550

He also has a new remote control powered option that I've heard rumors is about $1500. https://www.facebook.com/wakeshaper/...9598843407321/

Any idea on how much ballast in this boat? That's a pretty flat wave, not one that I would have much fun on. Guess it could be the water color too, I don't know, doesn't look much different than other 22 Ve waves that I have ridden other than it's shorter in height.

I was told it was with 800 each locker. Also told that because of the platform brackets, the tabs had to be mounted 7" inboard rather than 4". Furthermore, I have heard several opinions that MB hulls seem to work the best with these tabs.

All of this is heresay, lest we not forget that.

Switch-ability and level weighting are the real reasons to get this, not a supreme wave. IMHO

Not meaning to demean his invention for sure, it looks great. I would say that of all the surf system waves I have been on, the "surfgate" style one was the most docile and blah. Very easy wave to surf on and all over it, but not conducive to power generation, airs, or speed. Not very sporty IMHO.

The other fundamental limit to the surfgate style is that more weight past a point is not better. There is a point at which you bury the gate, water washes over it, and it actually seems to work against you in a way. With a tab system, the tab is meant to be buried in water at the outset, therefore there (within reason) are more benefits to increasing weight.

To Duffy's point, there is still probably advantage to the heavily listed boat. However, there are also 6 people in my family, and lots of goofy riders in my cadre of friends. In addition to the discomfort to riding at 15 degrees. What I like about tab based systems (like this) is that you still retain the list the crap out of it and surf ability. The only thing you're out is a mere $4000 LOL.

Supra SE450, Axis A24, Mastercraft X30 Gen2. Of the three, the only one I would own was SE450.

What is your goal? Isn't your wave better? Mine beats all that I have tried.

Goal is to create a similar wave with a more friendly family boat environment. The heavy list 16 degree list is tough to ride in for a large mixed crowd (kids and old people), and the quick side switching would be convenient to be more efficient with our time while out.

Now if it was just me and buddies, it wouldn't be as much of a concern.

^^^ That is one crazy listed Tige!!! Is the the degree of list it takes to get a good wave on 24e? If so, I'd be looking at other options as well...

It really is. This hull eats up back corner weight, and rewards you with better and better waves. Mine also likes about 600 in the bow it seems. This is 1800 or so rear sac, plus 250 lead. Then every beefy passenger gets into the deep lounger seats on the surf side.

It definitely gets looks from other boaters....

That's where my 22ve likes to be too, just wish I could get more bow weight under seats

That is about the list to my boat as well. Mine does not seem to do better with bow weight. Also it is not as uncomfortable as you may think. My only issue is when an inexperienced driver is at the helm.

I have been behind many boats and I still like my wave the best. However some of the newest boats are looking very promising.

I see your point and its not demeaning at all. These are two totally different solutions to improving the wave. Draw back is one solution is $3500 more expensive. You typically get what you pay for in my opinion but you can often spend less as most of us know to still have fun. Interesting review on power generation of the waves and that makes sense to me.

My only problem is that I don't think I could bring myself to spend 4k for something like this unless I was able to some how demo it on my boat and see that its really gonna do what it says for the money.

I also am really interested to see how a plate like the wake-shaper or the new Ronix solution work with equal ballast. I go out a lot after work where I only have about 2 and a half to 3 hours with a group of 4-6 surfing and its a pain switching sides. May not give is the best wave possible but for $500 it may improve it and give us more actual time to surf.

You might be interested to know I made a DIY surfgate for my boat. It makes a wave for sure. I combined it with some list and the result was actually pretty decent. Overall, it rode at probably 8-10 degrees of list and the wave was probably an estimated 75-80% of my listed wave (subjective analysis).

Unfortunately my wife's kid brother lost it off the boat.

I had roughly $30 into it, and it was side switchable. Perhaps you may consider whipping something up? It was very similar to what you see on Wicked Wakesurf website. I made it from Starboard, which is the expense part.

Also, I TOTALLY agree with you and Duffy said it too: I need to surf it. Even if it takes a $400 plane ticket, it might be worth it. Could save $3600.....
My "desired" plan (don't crucify me) is to surf a 2014+ MB B52 23WB with the system on it. I have a major crush on that boat for weird reasons. Their 2016 boats are coming from the factory with GSA tabs on them which I found interesting.

But I am really really really fond of my Flying Wasp 24Ve. A great boat. My first love, kinda.
