Does anyone have experience with the RZR with the AVX. I've searched the net far and wide for some video but I've found nothing. Just curious.

You are correct that 2012 was the first year of the "Convex VX". Tige allowed customers to retrofit their earlier model boats with the VX initially. When Tige came out with the AVX in 2014 and discontinued letting customers do the retrofit. I thought about doing it when I was able, but didn't pull the trigger. It would have been somewhere between 4000 and 5000 for me to do it. It would have required new brackets, swim deck and transom work.
Only option now is to buy a new boat. That's why I'm curious to know if the AVX improves the wave of the RZR like the Z1 and Z3.

The AVX (Adjustable VX)was not offered until 2015. The Convex VX (fixed hull extension/wave shaper) was not available until the 2013 models. It was retrofitable to previous years with the same hull but required a different swim platform and brackets. The VX is no longer available as a retrofit or new build once replaced with the AVX. AVX cannot be added to models prior to 2015 as they chanced to Tige Touch 2 which is required for the AVX controls. I believe that SquidWakes has the VX on an R20 (same hull as RZR). Search for SquidWakes and you may find some videos. Good luck in your search."I think I am pretty smart for an idiot"

I know the question was for an RZR. I have the RZ2 with the fixed extension. It cleaned the wave up, but the big difference was how much longer it made the wave. There is one draw back, if you do one upgrade you might have to do another. By adding the fixed hull ext. you will need more ballast.
