    R21

I saw an R21 today on Possum Kingdom. Talked to the Tige guys and they said it is an entry level 21' boat with the Z1 hull. Appeared to be the same tower as the R20. Hadn't heard anyhing about it so thought I would pass along. Sorry I didn't get any pics.

When I went to the dealership to do my winterization appointment, they had one in the back. It was a customer order boat in the back that had the Alpha Z tower on it. Apparently they didn't have the new towers for the r21 ready so they put an alpha Z on it and shipped it out. The boat is pretty much a Z1 without all of the bells and whistles. It has basic console and a small screen, which I assume has the diagnistics.

If you wanted all the benefits of the Z1 without the price tag it would be great!

My dealer has 3 all with alpha z towers and after looking through the boat there are a few differences
      No gauges just touch screen
      Non stainless cup holders
Aphostry on the rear hatches above the transom
Nav lights on each side of the boat mounted in the rubrail ( looks pretty cool)
I'm sure there's more but that was what I saw right quick

Do you guys have any pictures? I wonder why the dealers have them before tige has released the news to the public. Was it the same way with the RZX?

I also noticed they went to one fin under the boat, instead of the usual 3 I was told its to make the boat crab walk more for surfing, and overall it looks just like a z1 on the outside.

Staying with the nomenclature the R would represent a pickle fork???

              Nope. Traditional bow.

                Here it is! http://www.tige.com/boats/r21

Saw one in person back in July at the dealer meeting. It has been hard to keep it on the down-low!

I'd like to see some detailed pics. Especially of the dash.

I just watched the video. That was some sweet tubing action. Does anybody else think the surf wave looked small. Maybe that's what you get with taps3.

Sometimes you have to do what feels good, rather than what feels right.

The wave is definitely not small. Its throws a very respectable wave on both sides. Taps 3 is a GREAT addition to the hulls, for this price point. To see these riders doing transfers was pretty epic. Is it a weighted Z3 wave.... the answer is no. Is it a lot of wave for the value, absolutely.

@CarFanatic- The dash does not have gauges, and instead has a smaller touch screen in a similar location to TT@ equipped boats, that gives you all of your necessary data. The screen also has a lot of similarities to TT2. Again, for the price point, amazing build, giving you everything you need for a great day on the water. If you scroll down to "R21 additional features" it gives a shot of the dash. You can also invasion the look and "feel" of the touch screen by the pic of it.

Nice looking boat, not a fan of that tower though, almost looks like an after-thought

Anyone know what the Indmar 360R engine is? Perhaps a marinized 5.0 or 5.4?

It appears to be a new motor in the line up. Indmar has no information on this model listed. The only Tige boats that list this as standard is the R20 and R21. Looks like a loss of 40 lb-ft of torque is part of the cost savings. I am assuming that it is a 360 lb-ft torque motor vs. the 400 or 440 standard in the other boats. Most likely not an ECOBoost as that is rated for 350 lb-ft (w/93 octane) and I don't think the EB is much cheaper if not more expensive with the turbos than a small V-8. Would love to see an EB motor in one of these boats.

That was my thought as well, probably the Ford equivalent of the GM 350. Kinda surprised by the number of people over the years saying the 350 was plenty good enough & the 6.0 was not worth the upcharge. Then suddenly over the last year singing the praises of the Raptor 400 (basically equivalent to the 6.0/400HP engine), but not putting the two together that the boat price increased by the cost of the engine upgrade on the previous engines.
