    Z3 owners

So I'm tossing the idea around of maybe selling my rz2 and going with a z3, not sure yet if it's worth doing, my question is to z3 owners if they have or are able to put more than factory surf x ballast in or if there's bigger bags that can be plumbed in and take the stock ones out. Also if anyone has found out a great setup as far as surfing goes that hasn't already been disscussed would be great in thinkn an avx model but the new switch boats will be in this week so after looking and riding both il have a better idea. Any input would be great.

On my 15 Z3 pre AVX I have no issues with factory surf X weight. Its usually just the wife and I and it has plenty of height and push. I prefer it the way it is. Seems like we add a couple ppl and have to drop the taps from 4 to 3, and sometimes 2, or the wave is too steep for our liking. We are intermediate at best surfers, and won't be going pro also. Seems like a good surf board will compensate for lack of skill or wave size.

16 Taps 3 boats are badAZZ IMO. Like what they have to offer and would think the resale will be better with them. I know there are a few that will still want the AVX, but having the ability to list or not, and still be able to switch side instantly is terrific IMO.

From a simplicity standpoint I wish I still had my 08 RZ2. I loved the fact that all I had to do was fill the surf side ballast 100% full then surf. Easy!

With our 15 Z3 w/AVX I was struggling to find the best wave. I finally texted the regional guy and he asked one of the Tige Pro surfers for their setup. Now I love the wave. But for a while it was almost overwhelming with the Taps settings, 4 different ballast bags at different percentages of full, AVX, speed and depth all have to be taken into consideration.
I ride the with just the SurfXL. Yesterday my wife was driving (130 lbs) and my 11 year old was spoting (100lbs). I had plenty of push 15-20 feet behind the boat in 9-12 feet of water.
      Our Goofy setup -
Rear and front starboard side 100% full
      Port Front 0%
      Port Rear 10%
      Want 9-10 degrees of roll.
      Taps at 4
      AVX 8
      Speed 11.0

I forgot the regular side -
Rear and front port side 100% full
      Starboard front 100%
      Starboard rear 10%
      Taps 4
      AVX 3-5
      Speed 10.8 to 11.2

We love the Z3. I am a wave snob. I would rather have an awesome wave then a big bump. I have not rode behind the 16 TAPS3 yet so it might be a wave rather than the Malibu or Nautique systems that give you bumps. Would I like to change side to side with a push of a button, sure. Like I said earlier I would rather have a huge wave then a big bump. The AVX gives you curl or no curl depending on your liking. It only takes 5-8 minutes to empty and fill the SurfXL so downtime is not that bad.

We LOVE our Z3 with AVX. Stock ballast is fine, but we do use a 750 on the floor if there is less than 4 in our crew. We get a little more height out of both waves and little more push. I would recommend a Z3 to anyone....

        Cheers,

With minimal people in the boat, be aware that it rolls over to Goofy side easily, but you might have to burn off some gas or add weight to get the same wave standard. It doesn't like to list to port as easily with a full tank of gas and just a driver (legal in MO). I run similar setup to Booms, but have been adding more offside weight.
