    Gauge Improvement

I have a 24 Ve and we love every minute we spend on it.
    As an improvement....
Every time we stop to swim, as soon as I turn off the engine, the kids ask me what the temperature is (air or water). Unfortunately I cant tell them becuase it is only available with the engine running. It seems a simple thing to make it available with the key switched to accessory. I believe the E Hours increments whenever the gauge is powered, whether the engine is running or not, so that would have to be fixed too.
Tige should change this and if anyone knows how I could redo mine to work in accessory, please let me know.

Engine hours is based on the number of revolutions over a period of time. To make it simply lets say that engine hours is based on running time at 3000 RPM. Now if you run the engine at 1500 RPM it will take two hours to accumulate the same amount of time on the engine.

As for water temperature I would just carry a pool thermometer and toss it in the lake. Probably much simpler than reworking then wiring. Although I think it would take more effort as the temperature is taken from the engine computer as part of the fuel management. With no water moving the temperature would jump much higher than the actual water temperature. There is no outside sensor on the boat that which I am aware.

That is what I would have thought also. But my exhuastive owners manual says in bold "The hour meter is engaged whenever the ignition switch is in the ON position, even if the engine is not running." I assume "engaged" meant counting time, otherwise why the warning.

Good point about the location of the sensor.

Maybe I will try it out and see if the time increments and the temperature rises in ON with the engine off.

      Thanks

the water temp of lake comes off the triducer wich has nothing to do with eng temp or eng management system.
