Tige 22V Vs. Tige 21V spraypockets filled

    Hello,

Maybe some one have ride behind both when weighted equally... maybe some what 2500-3000lbs. extra ballast what about when consider some others.. malibu VLX, supra ssv, other early and mid 2000 wakeboats

Are you looking to wakeboard? The 22v isn't great. The wake likes to wash out. I can't run more then say 1000 before it does.

That's sound really wierd! Cause I have read so many places that 22v give you one of the best wakes when compare boats same age and size.. Like let say supra launchSSV or malibu VLX maybe year models 2003-2004. I know tige 21v have this washed lip problem when weighted until you fill the spaypockets but after that everybody say no matter howmuch weight no wash and wake rock solid... Like hitting in snowboard kicker.. If I have understand right the 22V should have manyways same kind of hull as older 21V with spraypockets filled.. So i assume there can't be a big difference in wake two of those.

Hope some one with good knowneledge could throw some more detailed info about difference between 21v and 22v hulls other than the spraypockets and minimal difference in lenght

I believe the major difference is that the 21V with the spray pockets was more of a slalom hull and has a slight hook. The 22V began the generation of the convex wake board hulls that had rocker.

..thank you for this info! Do I guess right if I think this "hook" type of hull sit more like higher in the water than the newer ones with more rocker?

When on plan, the hook creates stern lift. This makes for a flatter smoother slalom wake. The convex lets the hull plow more like a displacement hull, creating a wake.

The stock wake with no weight is still very steep and dense. But seriously if you start adding a bunch of weight it washes over or rolls over. I spent lots of hours dialing it in for a pro buddy and most of the time we just run 600 in the rear of lead, then 400 upfront. 22-24 mph. I have owned way better wakeboard boats, but if you want an epic surf boat get a 22v. Go test drive a local boat for sale. See what you think.

I have a 22v and we love it for an all around boat. My kids wakeboard and we all surf and I run 1100 in side locker for surf ( depending on side ) and fill them about 1/4 full for a great wake board wave and controll the length of wave with tapps.. can clean it up to almost any length of rope... love our 22v...

                  Hi duffy,

Great to hear that at least the surfwake should be as close "world class" as it can on the boat what is almost 15years old. Can you tell what are the biggest difference in the surfwake 22v to the newerones like Z3 or Z1 or even other brands newer hulls.

Btw... You probably have tested this too already with wakeboarding ballast but I still mention it in case you haven't. As the engine is in stern And it weight somewhat 900 lbs. I would start add the weight in bow at least us much in the stern.. My guess is that the wake works better if 600lbs extra is in bow and 400lbs. In stern. That way the overall weight distribution is more "even"

I have a 22v with 1100-1200 in the rear and 600 in the nose to 1000 depending on the day if we run a bag up in the isle way in the nose. I have no problem with it washing out 21.5 mph and taps at 3-4 wake has a nice shape. It is not a pro wake but it is plenty for inverts and spins.

When you say spray pockets are you talking about where they fill in the narrowed tail or where they fill in the spray pockets at the mid point of the hull underneath?

Normally people wakeboard is 60/40 mix. This is 60 rear and 40 front. I honestly got old and I gave up wakeboarding.

I have two friends with z3's and both aren't as good as my wave. Both are heavily ballasted as well. That being said, both are still great waves

Thats the narrowed tail to make the the wake come closer together for salomn sking , just in front of that on the bottem of the hull are your spray pockets , which are quite large, those pockets turned the water in the mid point and lessened the spray.
