    Hour meter not working

Much to my dismay, I have discovered over the summer that my hour meter does not work. It has been stuck on 236 all summer. It is just one of the old style round ones located near the battery compartment on the back carpeted wall of the transom. I have felt around back there and there are 2 wires connected to it. They were not disconnected.

Anyone know if these types of meters run when power from ignition is supplied or if engine has to be running? I have followed the wires and they appear to go into the engine so I am assuming the later. Just wondering why it's not working.

I am not overly concerned because my boat is in fantastic shape for an 08 an runs great.

I have the same problem. I havent done much to fix it but the dealer can run a report with their computer they hook up to your engine and they can tell you the exact hours your engine has.

My 2004 uses the Fauria Gauge sub menu to show hours. I don't have one near the engine. In other news, mine has reset a couple times.

I think the 08 has Medallion gauges and it has unofficial hours. Cant say about an R20

Check the speedo or tach like stingray noted. With his helm gauges, the hours are part of one of those as they are multi gauges. I think your boat has medallion helm gauges but still has the hours in one of the mulit gauge clusters.

The 08 Z1 just had the Faria hour meter above the battery access on the port side. No hr meter at the helm

Thanks Iwndr - that is correct. My gauges don't change. The one on the tach shows Oil Pressure, Temperature and Voltage and the one on the Speedo shows set speed, actual speed, and depth. I cannot change them using the speedset up and down buttons like the manual says.

There's a long thread on here about broken speed sets probably worth a read.

Did you check for voltage to the gauge?

My speedset works perfectly for cruise control. I don't think I have the option to change displays on my boat. I'll post a pic of my gauge cluster later. Maybe someone else with same boat can let me know if their gauges are capable of changing.

I don't think the 2008 Z1 gauges would change the display reading.

Here is a photo of my gauge cluster. No matter what I try with speedset buttons the 3 items on each lcd do not change.
