    Hydrophase Ridesteady GPS

Anybody have any experience with this unit? Looks like it has a few more features than perfect pass. Thanks!

I just installed it in my boat a couple months ago. Easy install and works perfect! I did not get the paddle wheel, it is just running off the GPS.

Any cons that you can think of? Missing features or complaints? Thx

I have no cons about it. I haven't messed around with all the preset stuff yet. My boat is an 01 and the only good spot for it is where my Faria gauge was,so I have to install a depth finder elsewhere. Justin @ Hydrophase is great to work with.

Just got it this summer works great no complaints. Very easy to use. Love the nob to change settings. Justin is amazing to deal with.

GPS works great on the river and lake. No need for pattle wheel.

I bought and installed mine 3 weeks ago. Mine wouldn't turn on. It was Friday night, late. I emailed Justin for some tech support, thinking I wouldn't hear anything till the next Monday. I figured my weekend would be run with out cruise. Well about 5 minutes after sending the email I get a phone call from Justin! For the next hour or so we went back and forth with phone calls and emails. Turns out the system will not run with less than 9.5 volts. I had 9.3 volts, even though my gauge showed 12. I am very impressed with the features for the same price as PP. Plus, do a write up and send in pictures and you'll get $100 back. Can't go wrong with that.
I would have bought it just for the customer service alone, knowing what I know now.

I just got off the phone with Justin and already ran into an issue before I've even bought it. If I replace my tach I lose my engine hour meter. If I replace my speedo, I lose my depth meter. Options would be to buy a stand alone depth meter, or cut out another hole in the dash (if I can even find room) to mount the ride steady display. What have you guys done?

Document the hours with pictures ect. Then you can add a small hour meter under the dash or somewhere easy to mount. You can buy them at Napa, or anywhere online.

Maybe see if they are willing to do a group discount to help you and others that are interested in his product out. Can't hurt to ask?

I installed stand alone depth finder, and absolutely love my Hydrophase. As long as depth gauge is Faria, it works (frequency of signal is same).

So I just installed and tested the unit. It works as advertised. The install took me and a buddy about 3 hours total. I was planning on replacing the tach then installing a stand-a-lone hour meter but we were able to squeeze the display in on the dash. Because I wasn't replacing the speedo or tach I didn't need to order an air or water temp sensor with the ridesteady. I used a 3.5" hole saw and it worked out nice. The instructions didn't have an exact example of connecting the unit's control cable to my throttle cable/lever so I tried a few different things before settling on what you see in the pic below. The "response" and "overshoot" settings are what really make this thing great. I was able to dial in the settings so its exactly how we normally start a rider wakesurfing. The boat is usually loaded down with 4-5 people plus 2600lbs of ballast and the settings allow you to customize how the unit performs under any condition. I would definitely recommend this.
